Last Knights trailer

Way back in late 2012 the film The Last Knights was announced with Morgan Freeman and Clive Owen starring in a story about a warrior (Owen) who leads a force that seeks to avenge their dishonored master. The film was shot under the direction of Japanese filmmaker Kazuaki Kiriya (The Legend of Goemon) based on a script by Michael Konyves (Barney’s Version). Then, well, it kinda sat around for a while. Now there’s a Last Knights trailer, featuring a lot of talk about honor and swordplay from Owen, and you can have a look at below. Read More »

Hercules set (header)

After years of trying, Brett Ratner is finally getting his chance to bring a legendary Greek hero to life. Production is currently underway on Hercules, based on Steve Moore‘s graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

With the release date still a year away, it’s unlikely we’ll get to see real footage any time soon. But thanks to star Dwayne Johnson, we have our first peek at some of the props and costumes, along with the set. Hit the jump to check out the images.

It’s been about a year since Dwayne Johnson first signed on to play the titular hero of Brett Ratner‘s Hercules, but now that the project actually has a set release date it’s really picking up steam.

The film has just added Aksel Hennie in the part of Tydeus, one of Hercules’ allies. The actor has gained acclaim in his native Norway as the star of Headhunters and Max Manus, and is now poised to cross over into the U.S. Hercules will be his first major studio role. Jo Nesbø’s best-selling 2008 thriller Headhunters was turned into a film that did quite well at festivals last year. Well enough, in fact, that rights to remake the picture were quickly snapped up by Summit, leading to Mark Wahlberg voicing his desire to take the lead role.

The film follows a successful corporate headhunter (Askel Hennie) who is deep in debt, and so has turned to stealing and selling art to maintain his lifestyle. When he goes after one particular painting, however, he discovers a secret that makes him a target for the sort of people we’d all rather avoid. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones plays a major role. It’s easy to see why Summit would be interested in a remake, but based on the footage we’ve seen so far I’d much rather just watch the original. Check out a US-tailored trailer after the break.
