Pardon the Christopher Guestish humor in this situation, but Flicks.Co.NZ is reporting that Peter Jackson and one of his art directors are in a big tiff on the set of The Lovely Bones. Why? Because they can’t agree on the film adaptation’s notion of Heaven. Filming has temporarily stopped until The Pearly Gates, a major aspect/set in the film, meets Jackson’s satisfaction. “More clouds I say!” Crew is said to be on an extended break for cigarettes and GTA4.
You may recall that Jackson had a prior creative difference when he replaced Ryan Gosling, who had gone pudgy for a major role, with Mark Wahlberg. And recently, Susan Sarandon offered a [...]
Above is the first pic we’ve seen of Mark Wahlberg playing the title character in Max Payne, the 2009 action flick based on the loner cop, blood-and-bullets video game smash. While Wahlberg’s involvement had me somewhat interested and I think the first game actually lends a fairly twisted Punisher-like storyline for a feature film, Dark Zero, which posted the photo, report that a PG-13 rating is in the cards. Stupes. My interest possibly just flatlined.
For those who aren’t familiar with the vid game: Max Payne joins the DEA after his baby daughter and wife are slaughtered in their house by psychotic junkies, high on a new designer drug. Tracking [...]
Do we really need more coke overdoses in Hollywood? According to Page Six, Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in a live-action remake of the quite awesome documentary Cocaine Cowboys. DiCaprio would star as Mickey Munday, a hick-type airplane pilot with an attitude and an insatiable appetite for the drug trade.
I was just talking to a friend about this flick while listening to Toto’s “Africa,” and the role of Mickey Munday came up. We felt he was getting shorthanded by the main “star” (former soldier/cocaine dealer Jon Roberts, whom Wahlberg is set to play) and we joked that Munday would pitch Hollywood his own idea. If [...]
An international movie trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening hit the web earlier this month, but was quickly removed by Fox. I think it might have had something to do with the unrated nature of the previous trailer (which can still be found on YouTube). I loved the “mass suicide” sequence shown in that trailer, but criticized the trailer for showing very little of the real story which involved Mark Wahlberg and his family on the run.
The official trailer has now hit the interwebs. The new trailer is more mysterious, building towards the mysterious apocalyptic crisis. I know a lot of people love to criticize Shyamalan, it’s become the [...]
I know, everyone loves to unload the hate on M. Night Shyamalan. I agree, his recent batch of releases have been subpar, but we must keep reminding ourselves that this guy made two or three really solid movies. I believe he has more in him, he just needs a good producer to help edit his visions down. He needs people on the staff willing to tell him how stupid he will look on screen as the writer who is supposed to be the savior of the world. I think Fox is giving him one last chance, and Night actually feels he has something to prove (which is much better than [...]

Yesterday we reported that Mark Wahlberg had replaced Ryan Gosling in Peter Jackson’s big screen adaptation of The Lovely Bones, just hours before the movie began production. The full details of why the last minute change was made, had not been revealed, until now. According to the Los Angeles Times, Gosling’s weight gain was too much for the Lord of the Rings director.
Gosling showed up to start work “looking like he’d donned a fat suit.” The actor had told Jackson that he was going to “gain some weight to age himself up to play the part,” but the result was far from expected.
“Jackson was still expecting some movie star allure [...]
Just one day before shooting is set to begin, Mark Wahlberg has stepped in to replace Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl) in the Peter Jackson-directed adaptation of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones.

The movie stars Mark Wahlberg as a man who takes his family on the run, in an attempt to survive a natural global environmental crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity. Mother Nature is sick of our polluting ways and has decided that we must go. An invisible neurotoxin is admitted into the air which causes people to become suicidal. Leguizamo will play Wahlberg’s friend. Zooey Deschanel is also attached to the project.
Shyamalan’s first R-rated effort will have a $57 million budget, and stars shooting next month in Philadelphia. The Happening hits theaters worldwide on [...]
