22 Jump Street is so fast, so funny and so entertaining, it almost makes time stop. After watching the film, and without looking it up, I couldn’t guess how long the movie had been, because the whole experience was so relentless with its comedy and action. It’s exhausting in the best possible way.
The non-stop onslaught of cleverness is something we’ve come to expect from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. With this, their first directorial sequel, they’ve lived up to the huge expectations of the first 21 Jump Street. In fact, they might have gone beyond it. 22 Jump Street is one of the funniest, and best movies of the summer. Read More »

I can’t tell you what’s in the new 22 Jump Street trailer. I won’t watch it. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum all returning for the sequel to one of my favorite movies of 2012? I was sold before cameras began rolling. Then the first couple trailers showed the same kind of self-reference, smarts and laughs we’ve come to expect from the franchise. So the hooks were in. At that point, I didn’t want to see any more, as comedy trailers tend to ruin many jokes in a film.
But this is a new 22 Jump Street trailer, from the UK, and just skimming through it you can tell there is a lot of new footage in here. In fact, it’s mostly new footage. If you aren’t as sold or excited as I am, you should definitely check it out. Or even if you are and can’t contain yourself, I get that too. Read More »
Its that time of year again. Jeff Cannata (formerly of the Totally Rad Show, now host of NLB and DLC, and a frequent co-host of the /Filmcast) has thrown down the gauntlet, and once again challenged /Film to compete with him in what has become an annual tradition: the Summer Movie Wager. Every year in the past I would make a guest appearance on the Totally Rad Show for this segment, but with that show now disbanded we have taken on the job of hosting this contest on /Film.
This year the contest includes Germain Lussier, Jeff Cannata and myself in a game is to decide what will be the highest grossing films of the Summer. It’s a free-for-all; the person with the best score wins. But it isn’t just that easy — not only do the participants need to predict what 10 films will be the highest grossing films domestically, but we need to place them in order. After the jump you can watch the full episode of the show with our predictions.

Most directors are lucky to have one smash hit in a given year. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are about to have two. Fresh off of the success of The Lego Movie, Lord and Miller are releasing 22 Jump Street, once again starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as a mismatched pair of undercover cops.
21 Jump Street was one of the funniest studio comedies in recent memory, and if the new 22 Jump Street red-band trailer is anything to go by, these guys haven’t lost their touch. This time around, Schmidt and Jenko pass as college students and head down to spring break — all in the name of catching baddies, of course. Watch the trailer after the jump.

This is the third and final part of our coverage from the set of 22 Jump Street. Read our full report here and interview with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller here.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have become two of the most influential actors in Hollywood. They produce, they write, they receive Oscar nominations. Now they’re teaming up for the sequel to a film that helped give them many of those opportunities. We spoke to the pair on the New Orleans set of 22 Jump Street last November and the pair were incredibly excited to be there. After all, no one thought the first film would ever be a hit, let alone spawn a sequel that’s getting a competitive summer release.
In the interview, Tatum and Hill talked about the self-awareness of the sequel, the new level of action, the oddity of doing an interview for a movie while you’re still shooting it, college experiences, the pressure of doing a sequel and even a potential third film. Read the full 22 Jump Street set visit interview with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill below. Read More »

The first clip from 22 Jump Street is… let’s be safe and call it a bit insensitive. Here we see the returning cops played by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as they attempt to talk their way into checking out a load of contraband. To make this happen, Hill adopts the look and accent of a Latino street gang member, leaving Tatum scrambling to catch up. Check out the comic conversation below. Read More »
