the leftovers season 3 trailer

This morning brought the cavalcade of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be handed out in September. Westworld was out in front with a whopping 22 nominations for its freshman season while other debut shows like This Is Us, as well as continuing shows like Veep and Saturday Night Live, also landed a surprising number of nods. But there are only so many slots for nominees and plenty of shows were snubbed by the Television Academy. Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news though as there were some pleasant (sometimes goofy) surprises as well.

Below, we run through the biggest 2017 Emmy snubs and surprises. Read More »

13 Reasons Why season 2

For the past several weeks, 13 Reasons Why‘s writer’s room has been busy working on the acclaimed and controversial drama’s second season. The confirmation of a second season only arrived two days ago, and a month after season one became available on Netflix. The series ends where Jay Asher‘s book finished, but showrunner Bryan Yorkey believes there’s far more to the story yet to be told.

Below, Yorkey discusses 13 Reasons Why season 2.

If the buzz around the hit Netflix show 13 Reasons Why — and the fact that Riverdale regular Ross Butler left the series due “other commitments” — wasn’t enough to confirm a second season, then this news is.

Reports say that a writer’s room for 13 Reasons Why has been working on a second season for several weeks now, despite the lack of confirmation on the second season from Netflix. 13 reasons why season 2

Over the weekend, I binge-watched all thirteen episodes of Netflix’s new series 13 Reasons Why.

You may have watched the trailer for 13 Reasons Why and quickly discounted it as another forgettable YA adaptation, but I assure you, the series is worth your time. It has episodes directed by Oscar-winning director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor), Gregg Araki (Mysterious Skin, The Doom Generation), Jessica Yu (American Dreams, Ping Pong Playa), among others. And since it’s adapted from a book, it feels more like a 13-hour movie than a 13 episode TV series (and this is a case where this is a good thing).

When 13 Reasons Why ends, it leaves us with some questions and lingering storylines that make me wonder if the series could return for more, even if the source material has already been brought to the main screen. Let’s explore the unanswered questions and discuss if there are plans for a 13 Reasons Why Season 2.

This Sunday Tom McCarthy‘s chances of winning an Academy Award are high. Not only is Spotlight probably going to win Best Picture, McCarthy and co-writer Josh Stinger are destined to win Best Original Screenplay for their tautly written drama. It’s a great year for Tom McCarthy, even when you take into account The Cobbler‘s toxic reception. Following a massively success year, the writer-director will next collaborate with Selena Gomez (Spring Breakers) on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.
