last jedi blu ray release

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is coming home. Rian Johnson‘s sci-fi sequel has officially announced its Blu-ray and Digital HD release, along with a slew of special features. Among those features are 14 deleted scenes — so you can finally find out the origin of those mysterious unused moments from the trailer.

The Last Jedi will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray disc on March 27, 2018 and Digital HD and 4K Ultra HD and via Movies Anywhere on March 13, 2018. Disney announced all of this through a nifty Twitter video.

Among the special features offered on the Blu-ray release is a feature-length documentary where director Rian Johnson “takes fans on an intimate journey into the creation of” Last Jedi. This documentary will go into everything from ‘the painstaking process of creating Snoke’ to ‘deconstructing action-packed scenes from the film such as the epic space battle and the final confrontation.'”

This will be the second documentary to accompany The Last Jedi, with ABC News Features releasing the forthcoming The Force of Sound documentary on the film’s stunning sound design.

But the biggest draw of this Blu-ray release is probably the whopping 14 deleted scenes — a curiously big number even for a blockbuster of this size. Much hoopla has been made over scenes and entire subplots that appeared in the trailer only to be cut from the movie, and now we can finally get a glimpse of them. Release the Snyder — er Johnson — cut, as they say!

Here are the features included in the Blu-ray release:
