Everything in the universe points towards J.J. Abrams and Disney releasing a second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens fairly soon. Most likely it’ll be at Star Wars Celebration for a legion of fans, then online in the week before Avengers: Age of Ultron. The first trailer, which basically only contained seven shots, was viewed hundreds of millions of times around the world and spawned infinite speculation and visual reference. A new trailer with even more footage and information would probably exceed that.
As the wait continues, a rumored description has now come online. It features new characters, old characters (yes, Luke Han and Leia are in this description), new planets, the full reveal of Kylo Ren’s face and much more. Is this what happens in The Force Awakens trailer 2? Read for yourself and discuss after the jump.
UPDATE: Now, we are hearing from multiple sources this trailer description is fake. There’s more below.
UPDATE: Jason Ward from MakingStarWars has tweeted out that he’s confirmed this trailer description is fake. Peter Sciretta also heard that too. Plus, the more we think about it, the fact it specifically references leaked concept art, it makes sense to be fake. Original report follows.
The description comes from Latino Review. Apparently shortly after they posted this, the site received denials this was what happens in the trailer. However, the shots described perfectly match shots we here at /Film have heard about as well. So even if this isn’t 100% the trailer we’ll see next month, it most likely shares some of its DNA. Maybe it’s an early cut. Or maybe it’s a complete fabrication based on internet speculation. I believe it’s closer to the former. Either way, it’s a very fun read.
Also, beware of spoilers. Even if this isn’t the exact sequence of the trailer, it does contain some strands of truth.
Here’s the rumored description of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer 2:
Like the first teaser it opens with a shot of the desert planet. Although it’s not dunes. It’s a destroyed AT-AT on its side.
Voice over (sounds like Lupita Nyong’o): “I shall show you the story…” Forest location with a very large structure (like a castle or something) with an opening in the base of a large tree. I believe this is the Puzzlewood location.
VO continues “of who you seek…” A large city in a tropical location. Looks like it’s on the water.
VO continues “the one who taught me…” Cloaked figure (maybe Luke?) standing at the top of stone steps on a high green hill with mountain stones behind him. This is definitely Skellig Michael.
VO continues “I know why the weapon came to you.” John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and a small blue alien with a CG face in a dark (underground?) cave. Finn takes a lightsaber, and turns it on revealing a green blade. Rey is in the background and looks disturbed.
Things pick up from here. Lots of quick shots.
Han Solo wearing a brown duster and looking past the camera.
A black TIE Fighter attacking the forest location we saw earlier.
Kylo Ren in a POV shot approaching someone on the ground. His mask is dark with silver accents. The cross-guard saber is ignited.
People running in the city seen earlier in the trailer.
R2-D2 making a forlorn beep.
C-3PO and Princess Leia in what looks like a base command center.
New Voice Over (sounds like Andy Serkis from the first trailer) “Don’t get too sentimental”. As that VO is playing we see Han looking at Leia and then walking away from her towards the Falcon with Chewie.
The snowy forest from the first trailer. Slow shot of Finn holding the saber, looks like he’s protecting Rey from someone as we hear Han say “You can do this kid, I believe in you.” Final shot of the trailer is a close-up of a hooded head looking up to reveal Luke.
The above link has a few more details and speculation but reading that gave me goosebumps. What about you?Cool Posts From Around the Web:
