‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Trailer Preview and Featurettes Showcase New Footage

The ‘trailer for a trailer’ practice continues with the debut of a new bit of footage for Snow White and the Huntsman, aka Universal’s action-oriented entry in the Snow White race. (The other primary competitor in that contest is Relativity’s Mirror, Mirror, directed by Tarsem.) Kristen Stewart stars as Snow White, Charlize Theron is the evil queen, and Chris Hemsworth is the Huntsman who rebels against the queen’s wishes, and spares Snow’s life. Oh, and actors playing the Dwarfs include Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone, and Nick Frost.
If you wanted more actual footage than we got from that miniscule Dark Shadows trailer preview last night, this will do the trick. A good bit of what is seen in this preview for the upcoming new Huntsman trailer is footage that was released in the past couple months, but there are some new shots in there, too. From the perspective of creating a fantasy landscape, the film looks superficially successful, at least, but it remains difficult to predict whether there will be more to the picture than that.
While we wait for that new trailer to hit (on The Voice, of all places, though it will hopefully end up online in swift fashion on the March 19 debut date) here are three behind the scenes featurettes to give you a bit more of the scope of the film.
Snow White and the Huntsman will be released on June 1, 2012.
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.
