Samuel L Jackson Nick Fury Age of Ultron

Captain America: Civil War is currently filming and though it’ll bring together almost every single member of The Avengers, it won’t bring back the person who put them together. In a new interview, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that he’s not in Civil War but he doesn’t know why. He does, however, want to keep doing Marvel movies once his initial contract runs out so he said they’re in negotiations. Below, read the latest Samuel L Jackson Marvel news.

Collider spoke to Jackson on the occasion of his latest film, Big Game, when he said this about Civil War:

I’m not in Captain America 3. I can’t figure that out, but I’m not. I guess I’m still out there, trying to figure out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who these other people are.

Jackson originally signed a 9 picture deal to appear in Marvel movies and, as of now, he’s appeared in seven. It seems possible they’re holding him back this time so he can appear in Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 to close out the deal, but, Jackson doesn’t want it to end there:

Of course [I’m interested in returning]! I’m looking for a contract extension right now, yeah. I’m looking to re-up.

It should also be noted that Marvel actors have blatantly lied about appearing, or not appearing, in movies before. Most recently, Anthony Mackie acted super surprised that he was in Avengers: Age of Ultron despite having several major scenes including the ending. So just because Jackson says he’s not in Civil War, doesn’t 100% mean that. But looking at the contact, and the sheer amount of superheroes in the movie, it might be a good place to hold him back. On the other hand, who better than Nick Fury to have a prominent opinion about the “Civil War” between his two top guys: Tony Stark and Steve Rogers?

What do you think about Samuel L Jackson’s Civil War sentiments?
