OFFICIAL: Writers To Strike

It's official: The Writers Guild of America has announced that its 12,000 members will go on strike Monday at 12:01am, against the movie studios and television networks. The disagreement stems over the studio and network's reluctance to pay residuals for DVD and internet media. Members have been told that all writing covered under WGA (which basically means EVERYTHING) must cease when the strike begins. No further talks between the studios and the WGA have been scheduled as of press time. The first effected projects will likely be the late night programs like David Letterman and the Tonight Show, as well as Comedy Central programs like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
