LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures

Disney has released a new video introducing us to the hero characters from the new Star Wars television series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. The show will premiere on Disney XD this summer, but this video gives us a sneak peek into the characters of this new adventure and also reveals the voice actors behind the new heroes. Watch the video and learn more about this new Star Wars TV show, after the jump.

Here is the new video, titled Meet The Freemaker Family:

The cast of characters includes:

  • Vanessa Lengies as Kordi, a tomboy who can talk herself in and out of trouble.
  • Nicolas Cantu as Rowan Freemaker, a confident and curious 12 year old boy.
  • Eugene Byrd as Zander, a gearhead
  • Matthew Wood as RO-GR, the family’s super friendly battle droid left over from the Clone Wars

The new series will follow three sibling scavengers who, with the help of their droid Roger and a female warrior named Naare (who appears to be a Jedi?), begin a quest across the galaxy to retrieve the Kyber Crystals before the Emperor does. There was once a Kyber Saber, a lighsaber made of Kyber Crystals. When it proved to be too powerful, the Jedi Master shattered it, and scattered the crystals throughout the galaxy, to keep the power out of evil hands.

During the series’ premiere week, Disney XD will debut a new episode each day, beginning Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23. The first episode will also be available via Video on Demand (VOD) and the Disney XD app for users on tablets, phones, set top boxes and computers on Monday, June 20.

And here is the previously released LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures trailer:

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures is being billed as a “fun-filled adventure comedy series” that will “introduce all-new heroes and villains in exciting adventures with many familiar Star Wars characters.”

Told in the whimsically-charged style that audiences have come to expect from LEGO Star Wars entertainment, the series stars the Freemakers, a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy. When their youngest discovers a natural connection with the Force through an ancient artifact – the Kyber Saber – his world is turned upside down, and he and his family are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. Throughout their adventures, the Freemakers explore new worlds, meet new and familiar characters, and learn the true value of what it means to be a family.

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures is being developed for television by Bill Motz and Bob Roth (who both worked on Penguins of Madagascar), alongside Torsten Jacobson (who worked on LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales). The project is being executive produced by Jill Wilbert (The LEGO Movie) and produced by Carrie Beck (Star Wars Rebels), Jason Cosler (LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Avengers Reassembled!), Jake Blais and John McCormackLEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures will air on June 20th 2016 on Disney XD.
