Plot Descriptions Of Upcoming 'Star Wars' Novels Reveal New Characters

Until Thursday's Star Wars movie news, the biggest related news this week was about Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That's a series of 20 books being released later this year that will bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens while also including teases toward the new film. It's a pretty exciting proposition for fans.

A description of one of the books, Star Wars: Aftermath, followed the news and now four more descriptions have gone online. They're all pretty interesting but on in particular, Star Wars: Lost Stars, introduces two brand new characters: Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell. Read about the new Star Wars books below.

Jedi-bibliothek.de (via Making Star Wars) found the new Star Wars book descriptions. First up, Lost Stars, which is written by Claudia Gray. Here's the text:

This thrilling Young Adult novel gives readers a macro view of some of the most important events in the Star Wars universe, from the rise of the Rebellion to the fall of the Empire. Readers will experience these major moments through the eyes of two childhood friends–Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell–who have grown up to become an Imperial officer and a Rebel pilot. Now on opposite sides of the war, will these two star-crossed lovers reunite, or will duty tear them–and the galaxy–apart.

Star Wars: Lost Stars also includes all-new post-Star Wars: Return of the Jedi content, as well as hints and clues about the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, making this a must-read for all Star Wars fans.

Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell. Those are two brand new names in the Star Wars universe. Could either of them be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? They do exist in that time period. If you take the girl to be the Rebel pilot and man to the Imperial officer, I'm picturing Felicity Jones and Domhnall Gleeson.

There are also descriptions of books about Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia. None of these take place after Return of the Jedi though, continuing the mystery of what those characters do after that film. But all of the descriptions still promise "hints and clues about the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens." So there's that. Here's the info:

The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure:

Luke Skywalker returns for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set between Star Wars: A New Hopeand Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the story finds Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2-D2 stranded on a mysterious planet, and explores Luke's first-ever duel with a lightsaber.

Smuggler's Run: A Han Solo Adventure:

Han Solo and Chewbacca the Wookiee team-up for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set betweenStar Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the story follows everyone's favorite pair of smugglers as they fly theMillennium Falcon on a top-secret mission for the Rebellion.

Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure

Princess Leia returns for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, the story follows the warrior princess as she leads a ragtag group of rebels on a dangerous mission against the evil Galactic Empire.

Those are all pretty vague, but the time lines are all pretty curious. Luke and Han's will have to fit in with Marvel's Star Wars comic book. And the Leia one might give some back story to Leia's implementation of the Boushh costume, considering the time line.
