There’s a new trailer for Woody Allen‘s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, to complement the international one released not too long ago. This version is shorter and focused a bit more on throwing out bon mots and a few bits of character. There’s more plot in the international version, but this one still gets the important stuff across. (Important stuff being details like “Freida Pinto sure is pretty.”)
Though there’s a lot less story given out in this trailer, and still only a very small glimpse of Anthony Hopkins, you can still get the basic idea. That is, it looks very much like a Woody Allen romantic comedy: upper middle class participants, flirting, relationships breaking apart and taking new forms, maybe a bit of comedy of manners and a tinge of odd fancy. (The latter thanks to a fortune teller character.)
Yahoo has the trailer in HD. Here’s the official synopsis:
After Alfie leaves his wife Helena to pursue his lost youth and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine, Helena abandons rationality and surrenders her life to the loopy advice of a charlatan fortune teller. happy in her marriage, Sally develops a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss, Greg, while Roy, a novelist nervously awaiting the response to his latest manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia, a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window. Despite these characters’ attempts to dodge their problems with pipe dreams and impracticable plans, their efforts lead only to heartache, irrationality, and perilous hot water.
Sony Pictures Classics will release You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger on September 22. It stars Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Freida Pinto, Antonio Banderas, Lucy Punch and Gemma Jones.
