First Time Watching Star Wars

There are probably a lot of kids being shown the original Star Wars trilogy, and maybe the prequels as well, before the debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this week. There are people who were teens when the prequels came out who now have kids of their own who they want to introduce to the movies. Under the circumstances, there’s no better time to do it, and one father decided to record his son’s experience watching the first Star Wars for the first time. The result is a seemingly endless string of questions from the mind of a child, and you can watch them below.

Here’s the magical father-son moment from How to Be a Dad (via BuzzFeed):

Andy Herald is the father in the video and the kid is his 7-year old son, Lucas. He wanted his son’s first time watching Star Wars to feel special, saying “Rather than saying it’s part of my childhood, I’d say it was part of my DNA. And I wanted it to be a part of his.” And the kids was so involved in his first-time experience with the movie that he asked a total of 278 questions.

However, despite his inquisitive nature, it seems like Herald’s love of Star Wars had already infiltrated Lucas’ mind. He seemed pretty well-versed with Star Wars planets and Jawas, not to mention already knowing that Darth Vader is Luke’s father. But that’s the kind of thing that has penetrated pop culture so deeply that most people know that detail even if they’ve never see a single Star Wars movie.

Anyway, Lucas is now obsessed with Star Wars and they watched The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi already. But they’ve held off on the prequels for now.
