Henry Bowers Lives: Two More Actors Join The 'It: Chapter 2' Cast
Who is Teach Grant? He's a Canadian actor who appeared on Netflix's Altered Carbon, and he's also the latest addition to the It: Chapter 2 cast. Grant's casting is notable for who he's playing: the adult version of bully Henry Bowers, a character who appeared to have died in 2017's It. Also cast: Jess Weixler, playing the wife of character Bill Denbrough.
Teach Grant as Henry Bowers
Variety confirms that Tech Grant will play the adult Henry Bowers in the highly-anticipated horror sequel. Bowers was a sociopathic bully who tormented the Losers' Club in the 2017 film, where he was played by Nicholas Hamilton. This casting is notable specifically because, in It, it looked like Bowers died when he fell down a well after a confrontation with Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs). Bowers survived in Stephen King's novel and returned to Derry to torment the adult Losers. But after his final scene in Andy Muschietti's film, I thought that perhaps Muschietti was killing Bowers off early and changing that plotline. Apparently not.
In King's book, Bowers has been imprisoned in a mental asylum. The authorities arrested him, believing he was responsible for killing all the kids in Derry that were actually killed by Pennywise the Clown. When the Losers' Club returns to Derry as adults, Pennywise recruits the adult Bowers to help him get to finish off the Losers once and for all. I'm not overly familiar with Teach Grant's work – I watched Altered Carbon, but I'm hard-pressed to remember his character. I'm sure he'll be fine in the sequel.
Jess Weixler as Audra Denbrough
Grant isn't the only new addition to the It: Chapter 2 cast. Jess Weixler, an actress who starred in the 2007 horror film Teeth, has also come on board. Weixler will play Audra Denbrough, wife of Losers' Club leader Bill Denbrough (played as an adult by James McAvoy). In the novel, Audra is a famous Hollywood actress and recovering drug addict. Bill has grown up to become a novelist and successful screenwriter, and Audra is an actress whom Bill meets on the film adaptations of one of his novels. After Bill returns to Derry as an adult, Audra soon follows after him.
