Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull LEGO Spoilers

I almost stayed away from posting this next news item as I'm not exactly interested in posting major spoilers about major films, especially the ones I'm majorly interested in. But the story has already started to engulf the web, and besides, these new lego sets have an original announced release date of early May 2008, weeks before Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull explodes into multiplexes around the world. And I've always operated under the standard that any spoiler which will be revealed int the trailers and pre-film release marketing are fair game. I'm not sure if that is the right way to look at things, but it has always seemed like a fair way to treat potential spoilers. So what is this news in which I speak of?

Photos of the upcoming Indiana Jones LEGO sets have been released, giving us an indication of what to expect from the high concept tentpole action sequences in the new film. But be warned, Crystal Skull spoilers are abound. Continue at your own risk.

First up is the River Chase set which features armed enemies in trees and boats, Indy, Marion, alagators and even snakes ("I hate snakes!").

Up next is the Jungle cutter playset (jeeez it appears there's a lot of Jungle in Indy 4) which includes Indy with a rocket launcher, a hedge-cutting tank, armed enemies, a few tries, Giant Ants (they aren't Spiders) and what appears to be the entrance of some sort.

The third set is the Temple of the Crystal Skull, and here is where the major spoilers begin to appear. There is so much here that I don't even want to talk about, but the UFO/Alien rumors seem to have some legitimacy. A major character turn is revealed (Cate as Agent Spalko), Shia as Mutt and some new (possibly alien) enemy characters are introduced. Check it out below, click to enlarge.

Its also interesting to note that Shia's character only appears in one of these sets (unless I'm missing something), which is slightly strange since he supposedly has a big co-starring role in the film.

IndyFilmFans helped me correct a few of the above details.Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits theaters on May 22nd 2008.
