How to build a hoverboard

Not too long ago, automobile company Lexus teased that they might have a working hoverboard on the way, which is perfect since 2015 is the year Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to the future in Back to the Future Part II. But we’re still waiting for more on the functional hoverboard front.

In the meantime, the folks at DIY Prop Shop have put together a helpful guide for fans who may not have the money to pay for the eventual real hoverboard, but still want to show off their future tech at home. The video shows how to build a hoverboard for just $33, and it actually looks pretty damn good.

Find out how to make your own hoverboard after the jump!

You may remember that Mattel came out with an official collectible hoverboard a few years ago, and while it looks good on a shelf, it was pretty price for what amounts to a piece of plastic that could have been a much cooler collector’s item. You might say that most collector’s items are just overpriced plastic, but if you’ve actually seen the board in person, and you like higher quality products for your shelf, you know exactly what I mean.

So if you missed out on that collectible, and you still desperately want your own hoverboard, this looks like the best option for you. DIY Prop Shop even made the printable decals and stencils available right here to make your own parts for the hoverboard construction. Sounds like a good way to spend some of your free time.

DIY Prop Shop is a relatively new endeavor from AWE me on YouTube, and we look forward to seeing what else they can put together. There’s another video on their channel that shows you how to make a T-800 Terminator arm for under $50 too.
