This contest is now closed. The answer was Upstream Color and the winners Christian K and Dan C have been contacted.
The answer to Friday’s contest was The Spectacular Now. The randomly selected winners were Lauren R and Robert Leo G.
Last year we gave away 10 copies of Scott Campbell’s book The Great Showdowns by debuting brand-new paintings based on our favorite films of all time. This year, we’re doing a sequel.
Today is your last day to win a copy of Scott Campbell‘s latest book, Great Showdowns: The Return. It’s a brand new collection of Campbell’s distinctive art depicting some of the greatest conflicts in movie history. We at /Film have been writing about Showdowns for years so, to commemorate and give away the new book, we once again teamed up with Campbell to do something very special.
The book is out today so, it’s our final day premiering a never before seen showdown. For the last four days we premiered showdowns for the favorite 2013 movie (so far) of one of five /Film writers: Peter Sciretta, Germain Lussier, Angie Han and David Chen. Today is your last chance and it’s based on Russ Fischer’s favorite 2013 movie (so far).
You’ll have one day to look at the showdown, read the explanation, and then e-mail in your guess. At the end of the day, two correct answers will randomly be selected and sent a free copy of The Great Showdowns: The Return by Scott Campbell.
Sound good? Check out Russ’s showdown below and find out how to enter.
Here’s the world premiere of Scott C’s Showdown for ______, Russ’ favorite movie of 2013 (so far).
What movie is this showdown from? If you know, check out instructions below. For some clues, here’s why this is Russ’s favorite movie of 2013 (so far):
This movie has so much of what I think is great about film: unexpected images, enthralling sound, and wild concepts, all given to the audience in combinations that hedge towards holding back rather than giving too much away. This one gives you a great thriller story and a tender romance, and then knocks out the audience with a quietly audacious final sequence.
So what’s Russ’s showdown? E-mail the answer in the subject line to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name, address and phone number. Sorry, the contest is only open to US, UK and Canadian residents. All entries submitted by 8 a.m. PST tomorrow will be considered and winners will be contacted directly. If you don’t include all the information and you get picked, another number gets selected.
If you don’t want to wait to win, I urge you to head to Amazon and pick up a copy yourself. I highly recommend it. It’s awesome.
NOTE: If you leave the answer in the comments, all you’re doing is making it harder for yourself to win. It will also result in contest disqualification and possible banning.
