Dope red-band trailer

Dope has been making waves since Sundance, but the first trailers have only partially showed off what’s really up with the film. This new Dope red-band trailer goes a lot further, by presenting the characters uncensored, and by showing off a lot more of the story that drives the film. It’s more than a sunny tale of three high school kids (played well by Shameik Moore, Kiersey Clemons, and Tony Revolori) trying to survive school and their neighborhood, after all. Check out the trailer below to find out more.

First: a fair warning. Maybe you’ve heard enough about Dope that you’re curious to see it when it opens in June. If that’s the case you might only want to watch the first half of this red-band trailer, because it shows off a fair amount. On the other hand, it keeps enough under wraps that there’s still plenty left to discover when the film opens for real.

The trailer is red-band primarily for language.

Dope opens on June 19. Trailer via Open Road.

The hit movie out of the Sundance Film Festival, DOPE tells the story of Malcolm (Shameik Moore) who is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles.  A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself.  Directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Produced by Forest Whitaker, Executive Produced by Pharrell Williams and Co-Executive Produced by Sean Combs.
