Clint Eastwood's 'A Star Is Born' Won't Star Leonardo DiCaprio, May Delay Because Of Beyoncé's Pregnancy

Briefly: Last night was MTV's Video Music Awards, and with the exception of the trailer premiere for The Hunger Games, it sounds like it was a broadcast dominated by proof of Beyoncé's pregnancy more than anything else. Big deal right? It might actually be for Clint Eastwood, who has been planning to shoot a new version of A Star is Born with the singer starring in the central role of a young woman who dreams of stardom and finds it through the aid of a washed-up older leading man.

But now that she's pregnant, the shoot for A Star is Born might have to push well beyond the planned February 2012 start. Along with that push comes the news that Leonardo DiCaprio, once tipped as a possible choice to play the lead, has passed on the role. (He's too young, anyway, especially paired against Beyoncé.) Christian Bale has been called a possible choice, but with the schedule for the film changing, anything might happen. And will Eastwood make another movie first? He's certainly capable of turning out a stopgap film before doing this remake. [Deadline]
