TV spots continue to hit the air and the interwebs to advertise various big films of the summer, and is so often the case, they have some footage not seen in the theatrical trailers.
Here are a couple of team-based action flicks: The Avengers, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The new Avengers spot features a good few flashes of new footage, and an interaction between Captain America (Chris Evans) and the Hulk (a digitized Mark Ruffalo) that long-time comics fans should really like. And the Japanese and South Korean spots for G.I. Joe feature a few looks at Lee Byung-hun that aren’t seen in the US trailers. Both are below. Read More »

A couple new TV spots have hit for The Avengers, and while TV spots aren’t often much to look at, these two offer slightly different variations on a smirking conversation between Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) in which the relative virtues of each man’s fighting force are enumerated.
In other words, these two spots give you a better look at the “I have an army” / “we have a Hulk” conversation hinted at in an earlier trailer. And, as commenter Starscream9289 points out, the members of Loki’s army look a hell of a lot like inhabitants of the world Korbin, the most famous of which is Thor supporting character Beta Ray Bill, so memorably created by Walt Simonson. Check ‘em out below. Read More »

If you watched last night’s Mad Men premiere you might have caught a couple of TV spots for upcoming films for which we’ve only just started to see a lot of footage. Tim Burton‘s Dark Shadows has two new spots, both with bits of new footage, and Snow White and the Huntsman had a couple new spots debut over the weekend, as well.
The spot with the best new footage is, sadly, the one we have in the poorest quality. The second Snow White and the Huntsman TV spot opens with some footage of the Queen (Charlize Theron) and a young Snow White in less combative days; I think those clips are new to all of us. And the Dark Shadows spots have some new bits of Johnny Depp being, well, Johnny Depp. Check out all four spots below. Read More »

We’ve gone from being ravenous for every bit of footage we can get from Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus to being at a point where we might actually be sated until the film’s June 8 opening. I know I don’t want to see too much more than what we’ve been shown in the collection of footage that landed in the past week.
But I’ll take a just a few new spots, including a dire warning from Charlize Theron and a demonstration of the affection between Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green. Those bits and a couple more are part of the new stuff in the first TV spot for Prometheus, which you can see below. The other notable part of this spot is that it finally puts the word Alien right in the marketing for this movie, which acts as a prequel to the 1979 film. Read More »

We just showed you a teaser for a series of Sony Xperia ads directed by Wes Anderson and animated by Laika (Coraline, ParaNorman). Now we’ve got the first one, and it’s a bit like the original Aardman Animation Creature Comforts spots. Kids were interviewed (or given a script to read) and then Laika used stop-motion to animate their oh-so-charming explanations of how Sony’s phones work.
Sure, it’s an ad, but there is a recognizable Anderson impulse at work here. And Laika’s animation, as always, is pretty wonderful. Check out the spot below. Read More »
