Eli Roth is making the earth move. The man behind the Hostel series, co-star of Inglourious Basterds and producer of The Last Exorcism has teamed up with successful Chilean filmmaker Nicolás López to make Aftershock, an English-language action-thriller inspired by the Chilean earthquake. It follows a group of six friends (including Roth, several international movie stars and a cameo by pop superstar Selena Gomez) struggling to survive after a massive earthquake hits their city and society crumbles around them. Most of the film will include realistic, practical effects.

Aftershock is still shooting in Chile but Lopez and Roth are ready to debut the first official images from the film exclusively here on /Film.

Back to the Future will never die. Every few months something noteworthy pops up tied to Robert Zemeckis‘ time travel trilogy such was the theatrical re-release, Blu-rays and limited edition Nikes. Mere hours ago, rumors of a possible Broadway show even began to circle. Now photos of a custom made, unbelievably detailed version of Hill Valley 2015 have surfaced online. They were created by Alex Jones, who can only be refered to as a Lego savant. He’s captured the entire square, down to every single store, person and more. Check out a huge, twenty photo gallery after the jump. Read More »

Summit today dropped a bunch of high-res images from the studio’s slate for much of 2012. We’ve seen images from a few of these films — Gone, with Amanda Seyfried, the (sorta) zombie rom-com Warm Bodies with Nicholas Hoult, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Emma Watson and Logan Lerman — but here are a few new stills. There are also shots from Man on a Ledge (for which we’ve seen a trailer and is already screening — it’s a solid little b-movie) and some debut shots from the Ethan Hawke thriller Sinister. When the guy who directed 500 Days of Summer was hired to direct The Amazing Spider-Man, it was pretty obvious the relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy would be on the forefront. The footage screened at San Diego Comic-Con confirmed that fact and now, new photos of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone from Marc Webb‘s July 3 reboot show the characters in very typical, teen settings. These are scenes in the movie you likely haven’t seen much from yet. Check them out after the jump. Read More »

Over the last week, we’ve been lucky enough to finally have some moving images from Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises to dissect. With the IMAX release of the film’s first six minutes, as well as the theatrical trailer, there’s been incessant discussion about Bane’s voice, his cruel intentions, Selina Kyle’s necklace and all types of insane minutia. However, just a few short weeks ago, everyone was excited about a series of images from the film that appeared in Empire Magazine showing Tom Hardy as Bane and Christian Bale as Batman in a few new locals and poses. Those images, previously only available as scans from the magazine, have now become available without all the photoshopping. Now you can zoom in on Batman’s new gun, Bane’s outfit and more with incredible detail. Check out the images below. Read More »

Other than the Hollywood sign, the Paramount logo is arguably the most iconic image in the film business. Though the company was founded in 1912, a snow covered peak from the Wasatch mountain range (seen above) has been its logo since 1916, appearing in front of some of the best movies of all time such as The Godfather and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Starting this weekend with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Dark Knight Rises won’t be the only thing in front of the movie. A brand new 100 anniversary logo will be there too. Check it out after the jump. Read More »

High-Res Images From Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’

Just over a week ago we saw the first real batch of photos from Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus. I’m anxiously awaiting the first real trailer for the film, having seen the Comic Con footage and a glimpse of the bad trailer bootleg that also surfaced last week. (It’s not worth watching, so don’t bother to seek out the bootleg if you haven’t already seen it — seriously, just wait for the real thing.) I don’t know if this film is going to be any good, but I think it is going to be a joy to look at, if nothing else.

To tide us over until the trailer hits, here are the same images that were released not long ago, but in very nice high-res quality. Now you can check out all the little details. From these few images the ‘Alien DNA’ that Ridley Scott mentioned when announcing the movie is so very apparent. And, as I’m sure others have remarked, doesn’t that giant head look more than a bit like original Alien conceptual artist and effects designer H.R. Giger? Alien DNA, indeed.

Earlier today, I posted a story with hundreds of studio released movie posters that all looked the same. The lead sentence was “News flash: today’s movie posters generally suck.” Almost as if it was a response to that, Cameron Crowe‘s official website The Uncool debuted the theatrical poster for his upcoming film, We Bought a Zoo. Designed by Arsonal if features no stars and no dumb tagline, just a striking image that begs the question: what is this movie about? It does what a movie poster is supposed to do. It catches your eye and makes you think.
