/Film reader Nate P stumbled upon this photo on Kanye West’s blog, who was apparently at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Looks like a design for Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are. I wonder what is going on what that production? Anyone have any new word? E-Mail me.

/Film Reader Lee C snapped some photos of the Greenwich London film set of Universal’s The Wolf Man.
“A lot of the set-up and filming is happening at night and you can’t get close but today since we are getting married here and had a meeting onsite we managed to get in. If you could link to the other images of the site that I’ve done in HDR of the site that’ll be great. This site was also used for The Golden Compass, Tomb Raider, The Mummy and lots more. Great site read it daily from the UK. Keep it up.”
Thanks to Lee for the batch of photos below. Nothing too [...]

Dr. Manhattan’s Lab
Warner Bros has produced 12 video production blogs chronicling the making of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. The first video blog takes a look at some of the sets from the upcoming film. Watch the video over on ComingSoon or check out some of the sets in photo form below. I have included comparisons from the comic book when available. As always, you can click on any of the photos to enlarge. I’m certainly more impressed with the sets and production design than I am with the costumes. Tell me what you think of the sets in the comments below.

Removed at the Request of Fox
JoBlo was able to uncover some photos from Fox’s big screen adaptation of Dragonball. I’m not sure if these are official or not, and if not, they might not be up for long (hey, it’s Fox after all). So check out some of the better photos below while you have the chance, and tell me what you think in the comments. It seems like a lot of fans are expressing disappointment on the various message boards, but that’s almost always the case with a big screen adaptation.
Discuss: What are your thoughts on the new Dragonball photos?

Photos Removed at the Request of Lionsgate
Forty new photos from the set of Frank Miller’s big screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit have leaked online at Dark Horizons. I’ve included the ten most interesting ones after the jump to give you a good taste. I’m still very unsure about this film, and these photos don’t fill me with any more confidence. The real question remains: Can Frank Miller direct without the help of Robert Rodriguez?
Imagine Really Crappy Looking Spirit Set Photos Here
(Lionsgate asked us to remove the Photos)
You can view all 40 photos at Dark Horizons. Will Eisner’s The Spirit will hit theaters on January 16th 2009.

Sometimes I’m not quite sure we post these first look photos. Because sometimes a set photo of Jennifer Aniston just looks like Jennifer Aniston wearing jogging shorts, and sometimes Matt Damon just looks like Matt Damon in military scrubs. But for some reason or another we post them. Sometimes it’s the lemming theory where one movie website shoots and the others domino, or sometimes, like today, news is just so damn slow, that it becomes a choice of posting this or a story about Paul Schneider and Kerry Fox being cast in Bright Star. We refuse to post news that doesn’t interest us on /Film, so a Paul Greengrass film [...]

The new issue of Empire Magazine has a new photo from Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie, which stars Tom Cruise as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, a German General who plots to assassinate Adolph Hitler at the height of World War II.  Also, dewfs snapped this photo (seen below) of the Berlin set of additional photography a couple weeks ago.

Valkyrie hits theaters on October 3rd 2008.

The big screen adaptation of Land of the Lost has set up shop in Antelope Valley in Lancaster California. Meowhous with Catitude was able to snap a few photos of this very strange set, which begins with this creepy cave.

Next to it is an old looking RV, and a wagon with all kinds of strange equipment attached to the roof. I’m guessing that this will be the home of Will Ferrell’s wacky scientist character.

The cave might be a tourist trap where Ferrell’s character is forced to work after he becomes the laughing stock of the scientific community for attacking Stephen Hawkings during a live tv interview. Ferrell’s character ends up [...]

JFX gives us out first look at Will Ferrell in Universal’s upcoming adaptation of Land of the Lost.
Ferrell plays Dr. Marshall, a wacky scientist who ends up the laughingstock of the scientific community after attacking the quadriplegic and wheelchair-bound Stephen Hawking while being interviewed on Anderson Cooper 360. Dr. Marshall is reduced to becoming a tour guide at the La Brea Tar Pits, the only scientific job that would take him. The first look photo above is taken just before a young hit scientist played by Anna Friel convinces Dr. Marshall to go with her on an expedition which no doubt takes him to the Land of the Lost.

Photo Removed at Request From Fox Legal
Troy Mustang snapped this photo of one of the Mexican film sets for 20th Century Fox’s big screen live action adaptation of Dragonball. As always, click to enlarge. Not sure what the scene involves, but the photo is pretty cool. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3rd 2009.
Discuss: Is there any chance that Dragonball will actually be good?

How fun is this dude’s job? Over at AICN, yet more spy pics have surfaced of Johnny Depp as ’30s gangster John Dillinger along with some of his fellow goons in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. Still no sign of co-star Christian Bale’s fed. The wardrobes, fedoras, cars and tommy guns are all spot on; even the money bag looks mind blowing. Okay, maybe that’s utter hyperbole but if someone told you “the bag is yours if you tap dance and whistle” we’d have a Slashfilm jamboree on our hands.

You can also find set photos on Flickr, here and here.

The ruthless smile on Johnny Depp’s face above as legendary mobster John Dillinger in the ’30s-set crime epic Public Enemies officially kicks off my anticipation for the flick. Simply imagining Depp and costar Christian Bale (as FBI hot shot Melvin Purvis) facing off for director Michael Mann (The Insider, Heat) wasn’t good enough I guess, not even with Stephen Dorff (S.F.W.) in the cast. How high are your expectations for this 2009 film? Hopefully it’s what Ridley Scott’s American Gangster was not: a hardboiled classic.

AICN just got their hands on some spy shots taken at California State University that apparently show numerous Starfleet Academy students scattered around campus from J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek, along with the unidentified futuristic vehicle scene below. If you’re wondering, in Trek canon, the Academy’s main campus is located in San Francisco. If you guys and gals have seen anything out that way (it’s filming under the working title “Corporate Headquarters”) be sure to let us know. Another photo after the jump…

Above is the first pic we’ve seen of Mark Wahlberg playing the title character in Max Payne, the 2009 action flick based on the loner cop, blood-and-bullets video game smash. While Wahlberg’s involvement had me somewhat interested and I think the first game actually lends a fairly twisted Punisher-like storyline for a feature film, Dark Zero, which posted the photo, report that a PG-13 rating is in the cards. Stupes. My interest possibly just flatlined.
For those who aren’t familiar with the vid game: Max Payne joins the DEA after his baby daughter and wife are slaughtered in their house by psychotic junkies, high on a new designer drug. Tracking [...]

Check out the first photos from the set of Disney’s adaptation of Sophie Kinsella’s bestselling book Confessions of a Shopaholic. Isla Fisher is dressed in what appears to be a wild bridesmaid dress, featuring a furry dalmation-print jacket and tacky pink veil. The official plot synopsis follows:
Rebecca Bloomwood is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem: she’s hopelessly addicted to shopping and drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can’t quite get her foot in the door-that is, until she snags a job as [...]
