Universal Studios Home Entertainment has officially announced the specs for the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Incredible Hulk. Both the Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray releases include over two hours of bonus extras, including an exclusive, never-before-seen alternate opening and a digital copy of the film that is iPod, PC or MAC compatible. Gotta love it when they include the Apple users in on the fun.
The Blu-ray set will include a new feature called My Chat, which would allow you to communicate with friends and family while watching the film. And you can also share your favorite clips with your friends though the BD Live Internet connection, but what is that [...]

UPDATE 2: TWC is getting back to us. Now they say tomorrow.
UPDATE: A reader from Outlander.solsector.net says, “There’s been no confirmation about the DVD date and nearest myself and one of the producers can tell there really isn’t a date set for the DVD much less a theatrical release. Plus, The Weinstein Company is contractually obligated to give outlander at least a limited theatrical release.” We’ll be contacting TWC tomorrow.
Recipe: Go into the closet and dust off Castle Grayskull. Place an E.T. figurine with its arms raised on one of the turrets. Pour a goblet filled with red wine all over it. Now set it on fire. Pretend it’s [...]

Remember when we posted concept photos which had been floating around DVD forums of an extremely cool Dark Knight gift set? The one where the film’s DVD’s were stored in the base of a Batpod model? Remember how we were bombarded with comments saying the photos were obviously fake?
Well.. We were just contacted by Warner Bros Anti-Piracy who asked us to remove the “leaked photos” from the site (…which we have). This pretty much confirms that the Batpod Collectors Gift Set is (or at least was) in the works.

We’re in the midst of an industry preamble for a 3D revolution flush with cash, but there are countless doubters. Ebert’s hating, and while I liked Beowulf and eagerly anticipate Avatar, it’s easy to see 3D becoming the Reebok Pump of cinema (again?). Personally, I’m prone to believing the future holds a more participatory creative role for the viewer, one that would leave room for a 3D visceral experience if needed. With the popularity of Final Cut Pro, GTA IV, web video, Comic Con and movie sites which connect fans directly to the talent and vice versa, this seems like the more natural, obvious progression when compared to convertible 3D [...]

I’m sure that the downfall of modern entertainment will someday be linked to the concept of direct-to-DVD movie sequels. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a shitty home video sequel of Wrong Turn, but when they start messing around with films that people actually care about (like Lost Boys or Wargames), that is when I begin to get angry. Imagine someday Warner Bros will be making a direct-to-dvd sequel of The Dark Knight. I can’t wait (sigh). Paramount  has announced that they are launching a new label that will focus on developing dvd movies based on successful properties from their library. The label is being called Paramount Famous. And [...]

Futuresource Consulting projecting that more than half of all DVD sales in the United States will be Blu-ray by the year 2012. I’m finding it harder and harder to believe that we’ll have hoverboards and flying cars just three years later.

The Hollywood Reporter lists one of the reasons The Dark Knight won’t top Titanic’s $601 million box office record is because Warner Bros is planning on releasing the film on DVD in December to capitalize on the Holiday sales season. The film has currently grossed $441.6 million domestically, and is on track to make $510-$525 total in the US.

It is interesting to think about how much cinema has changed in the last 25 years. Now-a-days, the long tail is on DVD, Downloads and On Demand. Two decades ago you could have kept Dark Knight in the theaters for 7 months. Without an available home video option, people would still pay [...]

Paramount has announced the specs for the October 14th release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I much prefer the Blu-ray cover, which uses the original theatrical one-sheet, over the DVD release, which uses the second released poster art.

DVD
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull two-disc Special Edition DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with THX Certified Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, French 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround and English, French and Spanish subtitles. The two-disc set includes the following special features:
Disc 1:
· The Return of a Legend—The evolution of the new film and a tribute to the legendary hero [...]

Paramount has just announced the details for the September 30th DVD/Blu-ray release of Iron Man. The film will be released in a single disc, 2-Disc Ultimate Edition and Blu-Ray Ultimate Edition. Since no one reading this cares about the stupid standard one disc release, let me tell you about the Ultimate Edition and Blu-Ray Disc releases. The 2-Disc Ultimate Edition will contain 11 deleted scenes (Convoy Ambush, Craps Table with Tony & Rhodey, Tony & Rhodey on Stark Jet and Military Ceremony, Rhodey Saves Iron Man on Freeway, Rooftop Battle, Obadiah Addresses Scientists, Pepper Discovers Tony as Iron Man, Tony Begins Mark II, Dubai Party, Tony Comes Home, Rhodey and [...]

It was announced at the Heroes panel that the Season 2 DVD release will actually include some unaired episodes which were shot but apparently cut due to the writer’s strike. Not much more information is known, but I’m sure we’ll find out more in the coming weeks. The DVD will hit stores on August 26th.

“I’m not about to stick my hand up in no place where I cain’t see,” says a desk cop in the new trailer for Okie Noodling 2, a new documentary on humans in Oklahoma who stick their hands down the mouths of mutant-like catfish, muscle them to shore in a fit of pirouettes (and mud and blood) and brag about it.
As seen in director Bradley Beesley’s cult documentary from 2001 (scored by the Flaming Lips), the process is called “noodling,” and the sequel examines how the backwoods phenomena is currently vying to take over baseball via YouTube and insomniac TV (alongside other “sports” like UFC, Tumblr and competitive eating) as [...]

Warner Premiere has released a new batch of photos, giving us a good look of the vampires in Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. Four more after the jump.

No NPH? No rental. Perhaps the makers of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder should have thrown a good portion of that $20 million budget (yes, it’s direct-to-DVD) at Neil Patrick Harris, the token star of Paul Verhoeven’s campy, nihilistic 1997 original. The Japanese trailer has arrived and while it looks much better than anything I may have accidentally gleamed from the first home-market sequel, so does a half-eaten, six-day old meatball sub and Lost Boys 2. Do you think the Japanese subtitles here make everything seem that much more happy-joy? I do.
The SST franchise should really consider a move into the TV ether or webisodes. Casper Van Dien is back (from [...]

The DVD release of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay will allow viewers to choose their own adventure. Not much has been revealed yet, but the official press materials lists a special feature called “Dude, Change the Movie!” which will allow “you to select from new and alternate scenes to change the course of the film.” And you might be asking, how much extra footage could they have shot to make this interactive feature worth trying out? The answer is 27 Additional Scenes!? The DVD hits store shelves on July 29th 2008.

Zack Snyder is in post production on his big screen adaptation of Watchmen, and is currently sitting on a three-hour superhero movie.
“The main picture is nearing three hours long and I know I have a fight on my hands just with that,” Snyder told the New York Times.
And the eventual Ultimate Edition DVD version of the movie (think Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings extended editions on crack) will no doubt be over four and a half plus hours in length. More on that in a bit. Since a big screen adaptation of Watchmen was first announced, many fans of the original Alan Moore comic book mini-series wondered how Tales [...]
