Donald Glover Hosted Saturday Night Live

This weekend brought Donald Glover to Saturday Night Live to make his debut as both host and musical guest (under his Childish Gambino hip-hop moniker). Glover is no stranger to NBC having starred in Community and written for 30 Rock, but he also auditioned for SNL a couple times. And when you see how well he does in this outstanding episode of SNL, you’re going to wonder why he never made the cut as a cast member.

Donald Glover was a fantastic host, playing a wide variety of characters, including his Lando Calrissian from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Plus, he was able to display his signature musical skills in a number of sketches. There really are a lot of highs from this episode, and the low isn’t even all that bad. So let’s run through the best and worst sketches from the Donald Glover hosted Saturday Night Live. Read More »

Pam's Goodbye to Michael

The Office is so great that it’s become one of those shows people always end up watching when they can’t decide what to watch on Netflix. Now that the show has reruns all the time on Comedy Central, people are reliving the good ole days of Dundler-Mifflin all the time, and a nostalgic revelation has just surfaced to satisfy curious fans.

Steve Carell was a big part of the success of The Office. His departure as Dunder-Mifflin boss Michael Scott was also part of the reason the show took a huge dip in quality for the last couple seasons (though some would argue it had already started to fade before that). But his farewell episode is still easily one of the best The Office ever delivered, and series star Jenna Fischer has finally revealed what Pam’s touching but inaudible goodbye to the paper company boss entailed. Conan Format Changes

Back at the beginning of 2017, TBS indicated that some changes might be in store for Conan O’Brien and his late night talk show Conan when their deal was renewed in 2018. At the time, the rumor was that Conan might turn into a weekly show rather than a nightly one, but TBS wasn’t looking to make any changes until a new deal was finalized. Now that 2018 has arrived, that new deal has materialized, and it does include some changes for Conan, but they all sound promising.

Conan will still air four nights a week on TBS, but it will only be a half-hour show. The change is part of a new effort for Conan O’Brien and his Team Coco production banner to craft a show that is a little less structured and expands their dedication to comedy, both on television and through digital content online. On top of that, Conan will kick off a live comedy tour later this year.

TBS announced their new expanded partnership spanning television, digital, social and live events today in an official press release. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s break it down. Read More »

Donald Glover Hosting Saturday Night Live

Spring is upon us, which means a lot of our favorite TV shows are coming to a close. Summer will allow the cast and crew the recharge while the writers get the next season in order. But before SNL goes on hiatus for the summer, they’ll be closing season 43 with three big name hosts that fans should be excited about. Read More »

Cool Posts From Around the Web:

After writing for Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2013, comedian John Mulaney returned to Studio 8H as one of the rare hosts who had only written on the sketch series rather than being a full fledged cast member. Due to his time spent on SNL, Mulaney had no problem with some of the issues that first-time hosts can struggle with, such as performing live, reading cue cards and hitting marks, but it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing.

Even though John Mulaney knew exactly what he was doing, that doesn’t mean the show was without hiccups here and there. Like any regular episode of SNL, there were good sketches, and there were bad sketches, but the former were so disappointing simply because of the potential by having Mulaney as host. Mulaney’s awkwardly charming personality helps elevate some of the sketches, but otherwise, this felt like a mostly middling episode in the laughs department.

Let’s run through the best and worst sketches from the John Mulaney hosted Saturday Night Live. Read More »

Chadwick Boseman Hosted Saturday Night Live

Whenever anyone says Saturday Night Live isn’t funny anymore, it’s because they tuned in on a night when the writers and cast didn’t come together for a good episode, and they used that as a judgment for the entire series. And anyone who tuned into this weekend’s episode with Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman hosting for the first time certainly got fuel for that misguided fire.

Chadwick Boseman did a decent enough job hosting the show, but overall this was a supremely disappointing episode, especially in the second half after Weekend Update. After that, the show completely went off the rails and could barely muster a chuckle in some of the worst sketches I’ve seen in a long time. So where did SNL go wrong this weekend? Find out as we recap the best and worst sketches in the Chadwick Boseman hosted Saturday Night Live.

John Mulaney Hosting Saturday Night Live

Earlier this month, Saturday Night Live closed out a trio of shows with a bang thanks to the comedic talents of former cast member Bill Hader taking on hosting duties for a second time. But next month, one of SNL’s former writers who was never officially a cast member will be taking the stage as host, which is a very rare occurrence in Studio 8H.

John Mulaney, who has a new stand-up special coming to Netflix in May, will make a return to Saturday Night Live to host for the first time. Funnily enough, Mulaney just made an appearance on SNL when Bill Hader brought back Stefon to Weekend Update, a character they both created during their tenure on the sketch series. Read More »
