Casting Notes: Tomei And Groban Join Steve Carell Comedy; Clive Owen In The Killer Elite; Lindsay Lohan Out Of The Other Side

The Steve Carell / Ryan Gosling comedy that used to be called Crazy, Stupid Love still doesn't have a new title, but it continues to add actors.

Marisa Tomei and Josh Groban are now in the John Requa and Glenn Ficarra-directed film alongside Emma Stone, Analeigh Tipton and Kevin Bacon. As we've said before, the film follows Carell as "a father whose life unravels as he deals with spousal problems and tries to manage his relationship with his children." [Variety]

After the break, one more film for Clive Owen and one less for Lindsay Lohan.

Every time I hear about The Killer Elite I think of the not terribly good 1975 Sam Peckinpah movie with James Caan and Robert Duvall. But this version of The Killer Elite is not a remake of Peckinpah's movie. It's just another action film with the same name.

And now Clive Owen (fresh out of Protection) will star alongside Jason Statham in the film based on Ranulph Fiennes' novel The Feather Men, which follows "a group of former British special forces members being hunted by a team of assassins led by Statham's character, a former Navy Seal." Clive Owen will be a senior field op and part of a group that means to protect the special forces soldiers. So, a good guy? More or less. [Variety]

Finally, Lindsay Lohan is out of the 'grad student on a deserted island' movie The Other Side. Lohan was meant to star in the flick but, shockingly, seemed to leave the producers and director in doubt about her commitment. Director David Michaels told TMZ (I feel dirty just writing that attribution) "Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement." Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette are all still in the film.
