Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever Trailer #1

I was not a fan of Cabin Fever, but I got a lot more interested in the sequel after seeing House of the Devil, which was directed by Cabin Fever 2's helmer Ti West. I can see why some people didn't like House of the Devil — it's slow and moody more than anything else — but I can't agree with them. Though I'm not as head over heels for the movie as Hunter was, I loved the atmosphere and aesthetic West managed to create. Some of the same touches look to be on display in this first trailer for his Cabin Fever sequel. Check it out after the break.

If you thought that House of the Devil didn't have enough gore and action, Spring Fever looks like it might be the movie for you. This trailer sets up the basic situation quickly: the infected water that caused problems in the first movie has been bottled and shipped out, and has ended up in the punch at a high school prom. We see a whole auditorium full of people drinking the stuff, and know that they're all going to boil away or puke themselves to death.

If you hate high school kids, this is may be your film.

I've read some comments from people who've seen Alex Aja's upcoming Piranha 3D saying it's the bloodiest film they've ever seen, but this might give it some competition. And is that a little nod to Class of 1984, in the scene with the saw? Kinda looks like it. The whole thing looks goofy, gory and simple. As long as it's fun, I'll be happy.

There's an appearance by Rider Strong to tie the films together, but otherwise the cast includes Noah Segan, Alexander Isaiah Thomas, Giuseppe Andrews and Alexi Wasser. Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is a straight to DVD affair; it'll be available on February 16, 2010.

While this trailer isn't strictly a red-band, it's pretty gore-drenched and consequently could be NSFW.
