Bruce Willis SLAMS Michael Bay and Joel Silver

Live Free or Die Hard

When the news broke that Live Free or Die Hard was rated PG-13, someone under the name Walter B started playing defense on the AICN talkbacks. The user claimed to have seen the finished film, which he said was just as intense as the original. Representatives from the movie news site later identified Walter B as Bruce Willis. After all, Walter is actually Bruce’s real first name.

“I cannot speak for Fox. They wanted a hard core DH4 too. But we shot it as if we were making an R rated movie, and except for the ‘fuck’ limitations, it looks and feels very hard R.”

Anyway, things got interesting when someone asked Bruce about a possible Michael Bay helmed Die Hard film:

“Would have ruined DH4. Few people will work with him now, and I know I will never work with him again.”

Ouch, harsh… very harsh. Someone then commented that a balls to the wall Die Hard could not be done without producer Joel Silver.

“Fuck Joel Silver,” Willis responded. “That is because you do not understand my relationship with Joel S. We are cordial now when we bump into each other, but we have not worked together since Last Boy Scout.”

When confronted about his off color remarks, Willis shot back:

“If my remarks here should ever appear in print, I will stand by them, but in the heat of the moment, when I was being told that only Joel S. could make a good Die Hard, I had to speak up. I should probably remain more diplomatic, but as this is a Site that primarily deals with Film, I spoke my mind. Joel S. know how I feel about him. And Perfect Stranger was ruined by the producers. Oddly enough, that film was meant to be a hard R rating, but when all the things that were meant to be in it were cut, EXCEPT for the Fuck’s, they got a PG-13 rating. Weird right? I was disappointed with that film, and I agree with you opinion of it. Everyone tried hard, worked hard, but it was not to be.”

Retraction: We previously accidently contributed the quote “I would rather eat a live baby in front of my grandma than have Michael Bay direct a DIE HARD movie.” to Willis when it was in fact one of the black box moderators. The story has been updated to reflect Willis’ true comments.
