'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Sneak To Air On ABC In March

Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron won't be out for 14 months, but audiences will get their first sneak peak on TV in 3 weeks. ABC will air a one-hour special called Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe on March 18 at 8 p.m. In it, fans will get an inside look at the studio, including sneak peaks of their next three films: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and, yes, Avengers: Age of Ultron.Entertainment Weekly broke the news of the special. They say it aims to give fans a "front row seat to the inception of Marvel Studios, the record-breaking films, the cultural phenomenon, and further expansion of the universe by Marvel Television."

There's no confirmation if this sneak will be something new, or just the teaser trailer that first screened at San Diego Comic-Con and eventually made its way online. You'd hope Marvel knows fans will tune in expecting just a teeny bit more, so maybe we'll get a few short quotes from Whedon and some looks at filming, happening now in South Africa. Then again, if it's just the Comic-Con teaser, airing it on ABC will expose the footage to millions more than the ones who saw it online or in Hall H. You couldn't much begrudge them if that's how it turns out.

More likely is an extended look at Guardians of the Galaxy, the trailer for which was recently released, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which will be mere days from release at that point. Plus, don't forget Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will be nearing the end of its first season and ramping up to a crossover with The Winter Soldier sometime after that film's release.

Avengers: Age of Ultron, written and directed by Joss Whedon, is now filming and hits theaters May 1, 2015. Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe airs March 18 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
