American Idol star turned Oscar hopeful Jennifer Hudson is looking towards her future in show-business. So what will the Dreamgirls star do next?
Hudson told slashfilm.com what she would like to star in a remake of the 1954 Judy Garland musical A Star is Born, which is currently ranked #7 on the American Film Institute's list of best musicals. The movie is about an aspiring actress who travels to Hollywood to become a movie star. The film was remade as a 1976 rock mucical starring Barbra Streisand.
Hudson also revealed her ambition to nab a role in the upcoming Jackie Robinson Project by Save the Last Dance director Thomas Carter. Robert Redford is the only announced star cast in the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The film will enter pre-production soon with principal photography scheduled to begin in Spring 2007.
"I'd love to do that," said Hudson. "I would just like to exercise that acting mussel and just try different things, because I like to accept a challenge. You know, see what's out there. But I want to make the right decision on what to do next."
You can see Jennifer Hudson's oscar worthy performance in Dreamgirls, which hits theaters in NYC, LA, and San Francisco on December 15th, before going Nationwide on Christmas.
