Just when you thought Jack Bauer would be saving the day in condensed time on the big screen, it appears that a nuclear bomb (in the form of show creator Robert Cochran) has dismissed the possibility of a 24 movie happening any time soon.
Show star Kiefer Sutherland has been going around insisting that a script was almost complete and that filming would take place during the downtime between the upcoming season 6 and season 7.
"We would have three months to make a two hour movie," said Kiefer previously. "Just to have that kind of time to really allow our cinematographer and our director and the writers to focus on such a finite thing, and actually be able to do a film that really has a conclusion, I think would be really exciting not only for us to make but I think for an audience as well."
Cochran dismissed the idea on Tuesday's Larry King Live. Cochran referred to "a movie" possibly being put together at the end of the final season of the series, which he predicted to be around 2009.
Say it isn't true. We need a 24 movie now while the show is still hot. Look what happened to those who wait it out (The Simpsons Movie anyone?). And from what I hear season 6 of the series has a couple "jump the shark" moments as it is. We need Jack Bauer to save the world now, not later.
