Many critics have slammed Universal Pictures for mishandling the marketing of Alfonso Cuarón's masterpiece Children of Men, which is being touted as one of the best films of the year. The film was released in only 16 screens on Christmas day, with no expansion in sight. Well the critical acclaim has won out, and the studio has finally announced that the film will expand nationwide.
Children of Men will now open nationwide in approximately 1200 theaters this Friday, January 5th 2007.

Universal has jumped on the publicity wagon and is now pitching the film as a critically acclaimed masterpiece:
