The first photo from the anticipated big screen adaptation of the cult 2002 horror comic series is now online.
The photo above shows (left to right) Billy Kitka (Manu Bennett, Stella Oleman (Melissa George) and Eben Olemaun (Josh Hartnett) as they try to keep warm and avoid the vampires. The film adaptation is helmed by British music video turned film director David Slade (Hard Candy).

30 Days of Night began as a three issue mini-series that jump-started the careers of writer Steve Niles and artist Ben Templesmith. The concept of the comic book series is actually quite in-genius. Vampires flock to a small town in Alaska where the sun sets for 30 days, allowing them to feed without the burden of sleep to avoid lethal sunlight.

Series writer Steve Niles posted the photo (which appears in the Wizard Magazine movie issue) on his MySpace blog.

30 Days of Night will hit theaters nationwide on October 19, 2007.

Did You Know: 30 Days of Night author Steve Niles had conceived of the story in the form of a film but after a lack of attention, Niles wrote it as a comic.
