Lionsgate is said to be prepping SAW 4. The film could get a greenlight to go into production for a Halloween 2007 release.
Tobin Bell, the actor who plays Jigsaw has been telling people he's signed on for five movies, but was he joking? Well according to BD, various writers have been tapped to write different scripts for a proposed Saw 4.
At a San Diego Comic-Con 2006 press conference, SAW III director Darren Lynn Bousman said that the whole crew would be "happy" to return for a fourth film in the series. This includes Tobin Bell, who plays Jigsaw in the series. Bousman said that it all depends on how well the third film does at the box office. But the studio expects the newest in the series to be a big hit. The studio would instantly begin preping a fourth film based on the opening weekend numbers.
Box Office
SAW made over $102 million at the Box office in Halloween of 2004. The sequel hit theaters not even a year later, and pulled in over $144 million, almost doubling the opening weekend of the first film. Not bad for a low budget horror series. The budget for both films combined was less than $6 million.
While they may have upped the budget on the third film to $10 million, the movie will no doubt do big business at the box office.

About SAW III
The Plot: "Jigsaw has disappeared. With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his vicious chessboard. One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), bedridden and on the verge of death. She is told that she must keep the madman alive for as long as it takes Jeff (Angus Macfadyen), another of his victims, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of Jigsaw’s own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of them."
Saw III will be released nationwide on October 27th 2006.
