When we heard that the over 900 page Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was being adapted into a two and a half hour feature film, we knew the story would be cut drastically.

Well MTV has learned that Dobby the house elf has been completely cut from the film adaptation.

"I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them," actor Toby Jones said.

In the fifth book, Dobby is the one who reveals to Harry the secret of the Room of Requirement. The house elf later appears to warn Harry that the secret hideout is no longer safe from the school's Ministry of Magic informant and new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge. The first of the two plot points is critical in the story's plot, so I'm sure they'll use another character in the role, much like the consolidation of characters in the last film.

In Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts is under attack by the Wizard authorities. The Ministry of Magic is denying the truth about Lord Voldermort's return, and no one believes Harry's story.

Order will hit theaters (and IMAX) on July 13th 2007.
