Morgan Creek has announced that a third Ace Ventura: Pet Detective film is in development.
Jeff Sank and brothers Jason and Justin Heimberg are attached to write the screenplay. The new movie is tentatively titled Ace Ventura Jr., and will center on the "eccentric detective's son, who steps into his father's shoes to take over the family business."
Justin Heimberg is the author of four published books, including the popular "Would You Rather...?" series. The group just finished writing Unnatural History for Disney, an animated feature for John Williams and Vanguard Entertainment titled Iguanas, and previously did some work on an action/buddy/comedy project for Alphaville Productions and Paramount starring The Rock.
Released in the mid-1990's, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and it's sequel Ace Venture: When Nature Calls starred Jim Carrey. The series made over $320 million at the worldwide box office. Jim Carrey is not expected to have a big role in the new film.
Why God, Why? This reminds me of The Son of The Mask all over again. Why can't a studio see this is a horrible idea?
