Sony has released the first teaser trailer for Ron Howard‘s Da Vinci Code follow-up, Angels & Demons. Like any good teaser should, it sucks you, hits you with a twist, and leaves you wanting more. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

The Da Vinci Code made over $750 million worldwide, despite largely negative reviews (25% on Rotten Tomatoes). It should be noted that the general public and particularly fans of the book seemed to enjoy it more (6.4 rating on imdb).
I’ve always found The Da Vinci Code to be extremely overrated. Angels & Demons is a far better and more interesting read in my opinion. It’s a classic race against time to find a hidden bomb in the Vatican and hunt down a serial killer in Rome. The reason why this story is more interesting to me is the multi-layered debate about which is to be trusted – science or religion. But like The Da Vinci Code, I’m not sure if the action in the story will translate well to the big screen. The San Francisco Chronicle called the book, “A Breathless Real-Time Adventure. Exciting, fast-paced, with an unusually high IQ.” You can read an excerpt from the novel on author Dan Brown’s website.
Angels & Demons is scheduled to hit theaters on May 15th 2009.
