2016 BAFTA Winners

Last night, our friends across the pond handed out their equivalent of the Academy Awards with the British Academy of Film and Television handed out their awards known as the BAFTAs. Taking home another big prize was The Revenant, winning Best Film, along with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu taking home Best Director. This doesn’t necessarily change its chances for Oscar glory in a couple weeks, but it certainly doesn’t hurt them. Find out all the winners after the jump.

Otherwise the leading acting awards were handed out to American actors with Leonardo DiCaprio winning Best Actor and Brie Larson winning Best Actress. Those two are pretty much locks for their respective Oscars.

But the BAFTAs did give their own actors some love with Kate Winslet and Mark Rylance winning supporting actor awards for Steve Jobs and Bridge of Spies respectively. Plus, Brooklyn got the unique Outstanding British Film award, a well-deserved accolade.

The Big Short and Spotlight got consolation prizes for their screenplays while Mad Max: Fury Road won a handful of technical awards, leaving the visual effects award for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
