First Look: Scott Stewart’s Priest

Priest

Check out this first look at Scott Stewart’s Priest aired during the Canadian version of Entertainment Tonight on Friday. You can watch it now embedded after the jump.

Official Plot Synopsis: Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.

Hey if he's having a ball, then I think that's awesome. I'm sure he knows the film isn't anywhere nearly as good as other stuff, but if it puts him in the lead role of doing some fun action, why not? I think I'd want to do some crazy shit movies like that as well just for the fun of it.

I liked Rick Campanelli better before he went to ET and turned into a fake fail of a robotic douche. Also agree with everyone else here, Bettany is a great actor, but these movies just...garbage.

Karl Urban - Rohan recluse, Space explorer, and Vampire leader.
  • I thought priest was going to be some HBO mini series or something.. or is it preacher?

    Same director as Legion too...

o no, its the end of the world.

    This looks like crap.
  • So Legion 2 then? Despite the kick-ass premise, I have little reason to expect anything worth watching to emerge.

The only thing that was interesting about that video was realizing that ET Canada is much better than the bo-toxed celebrity kiss-ass version we have here in the states.

I actually remember when I was a kid I watched Entertainment Tonight religiously because that would be the only way to see upcoming trailers. I still remember seeing the Con Air and Face/Off trailers, and thus began my addiction to action movies. They also didn't ruin the trailers with their own fucking edits and voice-over.

Paul Bettany is a very talented actor yet he keeps acting in films like this. Theres nothing wrong with making an action oriented vampire movie but given he already did Legion, its overkill when he does another very similar movie so soon.
  • Foller
this is based on the manhwa right? ...ugh.
  • Slatters
Its okay, you can call it a comic book.
  • sounds like another snooze fest...after the sloppy mess of Legion should anyone really even expect anything better with this one? why do they keep sticking things on Bettany's skin? why can't he try to look somewhat normal in these films?..that cross on his forehead makes him look like Charles Manson...he's becoming the new Vin Diesel which isn't a good thing
  • JRL
so who is Stephen Moyer playing?
  • CHeRRY
but guys this is a "completely original way to look at vampires."
  • greggorybasore
They seriously couldn't come up with a better name for their characters than 'Priest' and 'Priestess'?
  • RawRodrigo
Looks like more mainstream Hollywood garbage, ala 'Legion'

Wtf is up with Paul Bettany and these f'ing religious action films?
  • robb3d
I love Bettany's past work... reckon the man's just gotta eat.
  • capawesome
The Sam Jackson of the religious-action genre?
  • Ryan W
And just when I thought he had redeemed himself with Darwin. He is a brilliant actor, he just really needs a film to showcase that.
  • capawesome
I love him as an actor. But he's been picking some serious shite lately.
