Plot Synopsis Revealed for Marvel’s Thor

Thor

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment have released an updated official plot synopsis for the big screen adaptation of Thor, along with preliminary credits. No huge surprises, but a few confirmations. All the information is included, after the jump.

The Official Plot Synopsis:

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

hey christians, your god was nailed to the cross, my god has a hammer
  • ZOUNDS.
Ah, in Thor there's a reference that's a lot more respectful than your little swipe, grox. I'm as big a Thor fan as there is, and I'm Christian, and were I not, would have enough restraint to be just as exuberant without slamming anybody in the process.

    Peace.

You mean to tell me they couldn't find some wizzened, well respected nordic actor to play Odin, instead we have the dude who played hannibal and genuinely sucked in that last wolf film... I mean come on Thor is easy you take Eaters of the Dead, And that recent Outlander Viking rip, and add some DC Thor. Done, call it a wrap...

You mean to to tell me that you're cool with an Aussie playing Thor, but quibble over the ethnicity of the actor playing Odin?

Thor's "first" love? Am I correct in assuming that tense suggests she doesn't make it out alive?
  • drunkentoad
Na man, they won't kill her off, but you'd be safe to assume they will probably replace her with Don Cheadle for the sequel and hope no one notices.
  • mangoshakes
    no.

Sounds like Hercules in New York!

Have you guys seen the concept art for the video game?

If the movie looks anything like that then it will be awesome!
  • greggorybasore
Dude thanks for the heads up that looks awesome.
  • The_Kid
Holy the concept art is awesome. His armor is cool as hell, I hope it looks like that in the film.
  • Nice!

Would be awesome to get a teaser before Iron Man 2 for this, not seen any set pics and its been filming a few months now.

All I needed to hear. Thor kicking Loki's ass woot!
  • I'm sure I've already read that same synopsis.

BTW, they better play Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" at some point in the film. If Iron Man can get away with Ozzy, we should be able to get the Led out!
  • zoey
led zep's "no quarter" gotta be in there too.
  • MickJ
    That would be fantastic.
  • RGC
I would think "God Of Thunder" by KISS would be more likely, given the theme they have going. (Black Sabbath Iron Man, AC/DC War Machine, et al.)
  • Wazza
I agree, God of Thunder for Sure....what the hell happened to Kiss' War Machine for Iron Man 2...a far superior song and better known than that ACDC garbage
  • I googled the last line of the plot synopsis

"It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth."

    And found no results.

Paramount just uploaded this plot synopsis today to their press site.
  • All they seem to have added is actor's names and the love interest sentence to a synopsis that has been around since May.
  • If it's anything like Branagh's 'Dead Again' I'll be in heaven girlfriend!
