VOTD: Wes Anderson’s Spider-Man

zz78ae9e40
What if Wes Anderson directed the reboot of Spider-Man? Who would it star? What would it look and sound like? Imagine no longer because Jeff Loveness decided to show us, in a parody trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man movie that will never happen. Embedded after the jump.

Thanks to /Film reader stmccoll for the tip.

  • Nice play on Wes Anderson's dramatic minimalism and style...brilliant parody!
  • That was pretty awesome. Now I wish he'd be directing the reboot.
  • Reniassance_Man
Effing genius. The actors were spot-on, the captured style was pitch-perfect, musical choices, everything. I was laughing my ass off at how perfectly it combined Raimi's SM with Anderson's style.

    "Does it hurt?"
    (incredibly long pause)
    "No. I feel stronger actually."

    I would totally see it.
  • I'd pay to see Wes Anderson's Spiderman, I'd just think of it as some sort of weird one off comic.
  • jwsutts
... oh man.. seems like a perfect hilarious concept for bringing the "What If" line of comics to film!!

HOly Crap. That guy sounded exactly like Owen Wilson. Pretty awesome.
  • plagueoftruth
Pretty funny, although I would have prefered if the filmmakers could just have faith in communicating Anderson's style without having actual characters from 'Rushmore' and 'Tennenbaums.' I thought that the dialogue, delivery and the music were bang on but the whole red beret on Peter Parker thing was just silly. A valid attempt, but it would have been better if these characters were wearing things that looked like they were out of a Wes Anderson film and not actual costumes.
  • zzzzzzz
    They definitely nail wes anderson.
    "You've seen my photography?"
    "I've heard great things."
    lol.
  • Jason
i actually want to see that

the art/costume/set designs were really dead on to the WA-verses. but the acting/writing/execution leave ALOT to be desired. regardless of the flaws, its pretty fun.
  • MonsterKilledThePilot
    Hilarious!
  • Guest
That was great. That guy sounded just like Owen Wilson. Hilarious.
  • pretty good parody, i'll admit.
  • Matthew
Hilarious! I would have criticized Anderson for losing his way a few months ago because i didn't like both Life Aquatic and Darjeeling Limited but Fantastic Mr Fox won me over!
  • Paul Walter Hauser
    Bravo!
  • The Great Cambino
Ha ha ha. Yep looks exactly like a Wes Anderson movie.

Apparently I'm one of the three or four people on planet Earth who don't much like the guy. Flame away, whatever.
  • lipslikeasukal
    Yay!

I don't like Wes Anderson's stuff either. I tried so hard to watch Tenebaums and Life Aquatic, but I didn't "get" it. The stuff isn't funny at all.

I guess I'm the third person in that 3 to 4 group.
  • deadcowporn
Ahhhhhh no, he's great if you like movies about not much at all.
  • International_J
I'm not in that group, but I respect your right to believe such things
  • i'm standing just on the outside of that group with my face pressed up against the glass wistfully staring in.

This was very good. The Owen Wilson impression is incredible.
  • This was classic! I agree, that Owen Wilson had me double-take it was so well done.

  • atomgor
This was f-ing brilliant, I suppose Bill Murray would play Doc Aquatic. Anjelica Huston as Aunt May, "cut yourself a check".
  • Sam
    Bill Murry -> Uncle Ben
  • EbonPinion
Who the hell is Doc Aquatic?
Oh a pun! I get it! Liked.
