Images removed at request of Fox

There’s been a deluge of behind-the-scenes Predators images arrive online today, first surfacing at the AVP Galaxy Forum. I suppose they contain moderately serious spoiler material, so click on with due caution. I’ve put my selection below the break here, but there’s even more on the forum.

An eagle eyed fan on the forum pointed out that the last picture in the set seems to feature Stan Winston’s original Predator design and much infectious excitement ensued.

As is always the way with these things, the pictures might not stick around long, so save them to your hard drive now. On the other hand, the studio suits (who for all we know may even have sanctioned this leak in the first place) might recognize what good PR these pics are already causing. I wonder what reaction we’d have seen if the… er… ‘other creatures’ mentioned in the script review had shown up in one of the snaps?

Predators is scheduled to be in US cinemas from July 9th this year.

i live in austin and i've been to this set. there's a lot of potential there, i hope they make use of it. i have more photographs of the set if /film is interested.
  • after the avps, I am thirsting for some predator action .. loved the first two ..let's hope they do a good job on this one. Focus on human vs predator is more fun :D

Why all the hate for free machine? Think we all need to chill out! It's just a film.

Anyway, loved predator and by joe I loved predator 2. I have blanked the last 2 disgraces out of my mind, for both franchises sakes. However, is there much of a franchise left? Think adrien brody might actually work but I cross my fingers that this is done even half as well as the original.

I'll wait to see something to pass real judgement but my inner nostalgic child (dam him) is almost soiling himself at the prospect of a solo predator film that reflects that wonderful 80's zeitgeist.

Oh, and less of the hate film lovers. Why can't we all just get along? Regardless of each others opinion.

    Peace. Le papasanchez.

Look at Adrien Brodys big knife. That might be the highlight of the movie..

I didnt know so many people dont like RR, Am i the only one who loved the movie desperado

I'm not sold on this one yet. I'll wait for the first trailer. Last two films with Predators (and Aliens for that matter) were nothing to write home about. We'll see...

ahh i think i will hold my self back on this one and only say that i think those guys get taken to another planet to get hunted.
  • Solid
Is that thumbs down topher's critique of the film?
  • LorenzoVonMatterhorn
I'll wait till the trailer to make judgment. But not sure yet, I think it will really come down to the acting. I hope they knew what they were doing casting, but I'll trust it for now.
  • Kyle C.
Honestly I think it comes down to budget. In order to make this film which is set on the Predator's home world, it needs a big budget and it needs to show. I have a feeling this movie is going to look cheap and not have the gravitas the original film had. If this movie is going to have all these different creatures, all I have to say is they better look good. Of course acting is important as well.
  • Are you sure these pics are from Rodriguez's Predators?? Where's the green screen?? :P
  • capawesome
This is going to blow big time. I can smell it from here.
  • gah
I like Topher Grace and Adrien Brody but they are so out of place here. Who the hell cast this thing?
  • Frederik
Welcome to reality, not every US marine looks like Arnold. In fact, it can be quite a disadvantage to be so huge in battle.
  • freemachine
Arnold, Ventura, Weathers, etc. were elite commandos, not average marines. BTW, Jessie Ventura was actually Navy UDT (forerunner to Navy SEALs).
  • Slatters
Arnold and Ventura where roided out freaks from a dead era of dated 80's action movies that where soaked in chemically enhanced masculinity. Get some taste.
  • mbellerbrock
But these aren't all elite commandos, some of them are straight up thugs.
  • Lauren
    Thanks Wikipedia.
  • freemachine
Seriously. How do you go from casting bad-ass strongmen (Arnold & Jessie) to settling for a couple of wimps (Brody & Grace)? The only one missing from this current lineup is Michael Cera.
  • Rolland
    Wow, Michael Cera?

Damn you're jokes are more pathetic that Hunter's posts.
  • freemachine
    Ouch! That really hurt.
  • Frederik
Danny Trejo and Oleg Taktarov is more than enough.
  • Cyberdyne
Don't be so quick to judge. Martin Sheen wasn't exactly a hulking juice monkey in Apocalypse Now but his performance as Capt. Willard was definitely one of the most convincing portrayals of a Special Forces soldier I've seen on film. I'm not saying Adrien Brody is Martin Sheen, just that there's a precedent.
  • The Great Cambino
This looks fucking great! It's like the Predator planet in the AvP games/comics. This is what the AvP movies should have looked like, and where they should have been set.

It's obviously too soon to tell if the movie will good, but these pics give me a lot of hope.
  • Peter R
Digital enhance the predators later? These just basic shape and stand-ins?
  • gah
I hope that's the case because those costumes are lame. The guy who did Batman/Predator Dead End on youtube had a better Predator suit.
  • Slatters
Ah yeas, because you can tell all that from an overexposed, low resolution picture?

Idiots, ha, its hilarious to read some of these comments.
  • freemachine
LOL! Looks like the predators swapped the fishnets for codpieces. Whatever...this movie is gonna blow.
  • Steven Kennick
Wow, way to completely write off the movie after seeing a handful of pics. With an attitude like that, of course you're going to think it blows.
  • freemachine
I'm basing my prediction primarily on an idiotic script (see review), an inept director (Nimrod, aptly named), and the fact that RR makes crappy films.
  • Slatters
Kontroll. Thats all I need to say.
  • Han
Oh god, here you go again with *that* excuse.

Jesus christ, get the hell over yourself.

if Cameron shot his load all over this film, you'd be gulping it up.
  • Frederik
    They changed the script.
  • JesseWhitehead
As usual, freemachine continues to demonstrate his close-mindedness. It's a pattern with you, man.
  • freemachine
Never had someone so obsessed with my posts that they cyberstalk me, posting the same thing over and over again. Thanks! It's nice to have fans.
  • JesseWhitehead
I was gonig to reply but then that's exactly what you want me to do, isn't it?

(And yes, I'm aware that this is a reply to say that I'm not replying. Just in case anyone doesn't understand irony.)
  • frobish
The name Nimrod is associated with creating the Tower of Babel, and is also known as a "mighty hunter".

Way to invalidate your own statement, champ.
  • freemachine
You need to pick up a dictionary. One of the definitions of "nimrod" is "fool". Way to show your ignorance.

    (*spoilers*)

PS: the Tower of Babel collapsed.
  • kman
    *write it off*
  • kman
I completely agree with freemachine, I can tell you already this movie is going to blow. People, just look at the predators! They are the easiest thing to get right and they even managed to fuck that up!!
The script sucks, the director sucks, the actors playing the characters suck (in terms of casting for those particular roles), therefore this movie is going to suck.
I can right it off as a shit film, not because of these pictures but because of common sense.
  • Alejandro Rios
OMFG, Oleg Taktorov! That dude is a bad ass.
  • Alex
This is looking pretty good, reminds me of the original.
  • Kyle C.
Wow, I love that Adrian Brody looks like he just stepped out of John McTiernan's '87 original Predator. I'm really on the fence about this one though, I just don't see Rodriguez and Antel being able to quite pull off a serious Predator film, maybe a campy one, but that's not what I am looking for, we got enough of that in the AVP movies. Really can't wait for the trailer because that is what's gonna sell me or not.
  • The Great Cambino
Don't forget Predator 2, which I think was even worse than AVP. (I never saw Requiem)

At the very least, this can't be worse than that turd.
  • Kyle C.
Predator 2 was awesome when I was a kid but it has aged horribly and Danny Glover was an awful choice to be the lead. It's still cool watching Jamaican's getting torn to shreds but really, what was the point, to give Gary Busy more coke money?
