Director: Jorma Taccone
Release Date: April 23rd 2010

Plot Synopsis: Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet. In 2010, Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live’s clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber.

In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job.

Assembling an elite team of experts–Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)–MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox. His crime scenes may get messy. But if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.

Will Shia LaBeouf be a recurring guest star as MacGruber's son?
  • I saw this last month and it was pretty funny. Not all scenes were hilarious, but for the most part I enjoyed myself. Definitely best SNL film since Waynes World. I think Jorma Taccone did a great job with it. I didn't care for Val Kilmer as the villain though.

Silly story. I went with my father and he laughed his head off. After the film we used the mens room where Lorne Michaels was occupying 1 of the 3 urinals. My father (oblivious to who Lorne is) began to yell, "You know what that movie needed? TITS!! I'm not asking for a lot of tits, just some in the background or something." I couldn't even use the mens room at this point. I had to pretend to use the stall. I walked out to wash my hands and Lorne is still standing there while my father continued on his "Tits" rant until I pulled him out.

All movies need more tits...you're father was correct
  • Batjag
Your father is my new hero!
  • You know keep your eye out for after re shoots now. That could turn out to be a hell of a story.
  • Compliance Consultant
Ha. I start laughing as soon as Will Forte appears on screen anywhere, so that first shot fucking killed me.

But will it have Richard Dean Anderson!?

    SNL movies suck.
  • The Blues Brothers consider your statement sacrilege.
  • freemachine
Technically "The Blues Brothers" is a band, not a sketch, who got their start as a musical guest on SNL. The majority of the band members were not cast members (some were part of the SNL band). Just because Aykroyd and Belushi were on SNL at the time doing their "Bee" thing confuses a lot of people and makes them think that the BBs were a SNL skit. The BBs are first and foremost a musical group.

PS: Lorne Michaels, the SNL producer who is also behind all these awful SNL films had nothing to do with The Blues Brothers" movie.
  • I would consider being founded for a SNL musical comedy bit as qualifying it for SNL film status.

saw a screening of this movie. hated the sketch on snl, but the film is actually really good. probably the best SNL movie since wayne's world. see for yourself...
  • It's still hard for me to believe this is actually being made into a movie! Sometimes the sketches get some laughs out of me, other times not... but an entire movie out of it? Hard for me to imagine it working.
  • robear
I enjoyed the skits the 2 times I've seen them but I don't know about a feature
  • OMG
lol @ will forte a.k.a. the WORST snl'er ever getting his own movie before Kirsten Wiig
  • Susie
Forte is deeply underrated. Not for everyone, perhaps, but The Brothers Solomon -- which he also wrote -- was glorious.
  • IsaacRosales
I do like Kristen Wiig more than any other cast member in SNL right now, but to say that Will Forte is the worst of the bunch is completely ludicrous.
  • amendoza
I'll take Will Forte's appearances on the news segment as the Calhoun politician and the humming guy over Gilly any day.
  • RosanatorDA
that is a ridiculous statement sir.
  • Blueman
Will Forte was a part of Clone High, bite your tongue.

(also, anything involving the lonely island has at least a chance of being funny)
  • John Debono
I am Canadian and actually I believe Clone High is more popular here. They actually played all 13 episodes on television here and they have a bunch of Clone High marathons at my university campus.
So no offense but I don't know what your friend was talking about.
  • John Debono
Can't we just have a Clone High movie instead?
  • I have to ask, are you a Canadian. I've heard from friends in the States that it is no where near as popular there. I mean how could it not be.
  • man
cloudy with a chance of meatballs?
  • I cant wait to not see this!
  • Pats
What's your problem? You can begin now.
  • teddy123
Will Forte is great... his stuff on SNL is some of the best... this movie should be funny and could be one of the best comedies of 2010
  • I've heard nothing but positive things from people who've seen the film so I'm looking forward to it… had no idea Jorma directed it though, or that he directed at all! That's enough to get me to watch it, just out of curiosity
  • andypthomas
This could work. If the direction is good, plot is good, and actors perform well, this could be a fun and entertaining mov...EXPLOSION!!!!
  • andypthomas
    Hilarious

This is further proof there is no God....
  • Matches Malone
Rather than trying to prove that there is no god...try proving there IS one first.

MacGruber is going to be fun. I hope it's Rated R.
  • DC
    You needed more proof?
  • Pats
Ah, high waisted pants. No nostalgia for them at all. Waiting on a preview and/trailer.
  • MTucker76
They really are moving forward with this?

Add another log to the fire of overwrought SNL big-screen adaptations.
  • mack41
    Can't wait for this
  • I always thought this skit ran too long when it only lasted five minutes. Now we're going to get 90 minutes of it. Yeah... that'll make you put a gun barrel in your mouth.
  • Remember Ryan Phillippe?
  • starscream9289
So this is actually going to happen, eh?
  • Alex
Hmmm, this actually could be good!
