Lost: The Last Supper

Lost Last Supper

Last Supper-inspired art is beginning to become a tradition for the final seasons of serialized television series. First The Sopranos did it, then Battlestar Galatica, which is probably the most famous. The latest Last Supper-inspired final season art comes for the tv series LOST. After the jump you can see the two new Last Supper promos for Lost (which would make great desktop wallpaper). I’ve also included the previously mentioned Sopranos/Battlestar versions, and a couple more Last Supper parodies.

    Locke!
  • Locke as Jesus is really interesting considering the parallels since he did 'die' for the group and was somehow resurrected later.

Looking at this a bit closer just now, I can see that all that Dharma foodstuff on the table is really badly Photoshopped in there. Actually, everything on the table is a pretty shoddy Photoshop job, and I'm thinking the table/wing itself has been Photoshopped in none-too-elegantly.

Maybe the whole show has been taking place inside a shoddy Photoshop?! Those terribly-done pictures of Eloise with Brother Campbell and Ben with Alex were clues...

The table is definitely photoshopped. If you line up the images and flip between them in a browser (or layer them in photoshop with less than 100% opacity), all kinds of photochop gaffes appear.
  • The sacrilege is that there is no Juliet in either of these pics. They should have killed off Kate instead...

    Sacrilicious.

    Love it!

It should actually be called just: "The Lost Supper"

    Good call.

I like how the random chick from last season is on the very very left. She's so not cool enough to be at that table.
  • I thought it was quite nicely handled, actually. Far more nuanced and interesting than Nikki and Paulo's clumsy introduction.

Battlestar has the best one.....also the show's a lot better.

I'm glad they are ending this show now. It's dragged on far too long and it needs closure fast.
  • Meh, it dragged in the middle of the second season, but since then, the plot has been moving forward at fairly steady pace. If anything, it needed one more season to slow the plot down and make the pace feel more natural.

does that make kate or sawyer judas ?
  • I think Claire is in the position of Judas.
  • Two pictures for two separate timelines? And why do Sayid & Hurley have skulls at their feet?! :[

A blown up swan station in the background...hmmmmmm
  • I'm only halfway through season 5 on DVD and I'm finding it very hard to stay away from some of this promo stuff. I'm glad they aren't adding any new footage although seeing who is included in this shot and who isn't is bolstering my drive to get through the last eps in season 5. LOST is so freaking great. Can't wait to see how it all ends.
  • wait, who is missing in the picture that was in season 5? haha. just kidding. i hope these picture dont ruin the ending for you for season 5
  • Nothing's been ruined. It's more of a tease if anything plus, with LOST, anything can happen.
  • knuppeldik
At least with M*A*S*H it really was in the movie
  • and watchmen
  • So does that make Lost Jesus? Time to over analyze this! I'm sure "crucifacation" is involved!

Anyone notice the position of the characters change in two lost images?
  • I notice when this happens, sun and jin are back together, maybe hinting on something.

then claire, hurley, ben, and the pilot ( forgot his name) are on one side hinting maybe they survive or die?

and on the other side is the other team of people. dont know what to call them, maybe the key to the story? haha.

i guess the position of the main 5 dont change for some reason.
  • just miles and hurley which is a bit odd indeed. Could be a hint could be a red herring.
  • Danno
you mean Miles, Hurley, AND Claire
  • Danno
    and Sun and Ben

This is AWESOME. So my background. Glad ABC finally put out something cool...
  • I can just imagine the Last Supper picture for the final series of Two And A Half Men (God willing) with that fat kid hogging all the supper.

I guess it's P.C. to parody and mock western religions. I wonder why shows don't do this for Islam, for example.
  • claire
you don't remember the Dutch cartoon of muhammed dressed as a terrorost?
  • existenz
What is mocking about it? They are recreating the incredible composition of Leonard da Vinci's "The Last Supper", which happens to be a great piece of art. Just because d Vinci's painting depicts a scene from the Bible doesn't mean it can't be referenced or imitated.

Anyone who thinks they are mocking Christianity is way too sensitive. By your standards almost all Renaissance art would be out of bounds.

    btw my reply's to Jimmy.
  • Chris
Maybe the same reason we're having board game adaptations and remakes rammed down our throats - audience recognition, pre-created wealth of material etc etc = laziness?
  • Jimmy B.
Again, exis, my question is this: Why there is no problem depicting western religions in a goofy way -- and even outright defensive posturing in support of it, as you yourself have illustrated -- but a seeming unwillingness to treat Islam or other Eastern religions in the same manner?
  • Bryce
This has got to be a joke post right? I mean to say that they are mocking Christianity? It's symbolism for crying out loud. Symbolism from a painting made long after Jesus was killed. It's not even part of the "christian canon". It's not mocking religion in any way to do this. It's just using known imagry to evoke thoughts and feelings inside us. But anyways yes it's okay to mock religion. It's the same as any political offililation. Religion makes claims about how the world works. I would hope people would analyze those claims. Islam? Don't know enough about it to really specifically target it. But it's as much BS as any other religion it would seem. Plus it seems like a fairly violent one at that.
  • J.D.
Well I agree with you on a few points! I'm not too religious, but it just seems that there is very little trepidation in Hollywood when it comes to doing things that might upset followers of western religion, but a lot of fear of upsetting the Muslim community. Perhaps LoganR has a point.

    * BTW, I found this discussion interesting and very relevant to Peter's post. I hope that my original comment which led to this discussion is not the type of comment that will be considered "off topic" by the future comment moderator. :)
  • Why would you want to entice a religion that prides themselves in martyrdom and taking out as many innocent bystanders with them?
  • Chris
and how would you propose this? what imagery are you suggesting from islam they mock - majority of their artwork is calligraphy, don't know how far pitching that will get you in the room mate.

    Hate Crime not hate crime.
