Inception sideways

Last week a viral for Christopher Nolan’s Inception began, revealing the first one sheet for the film. It was discovered at the completion of an internet mini game called Mind Crime, which involved users creating a maze for people to play around in.

With only a few days before the second teaser trailer hits theaters (attached to Sherlock Holmes), another teaser poster has supposedly been uncovered in the game (found via nolanfans). This poster features the film’s logo, in the form of skyscrapers, in a view from the sky (another image similar to that seen in the first teaser trailer).

I have not been able to confirm the legitimacy of this latest poster, and I’m a little bit skeptical considering no high resolution version has been posted (the previous teaser poster was released in a super high resolution digital image file). It’s very possible that this is a fan creation, and if so, it’s still worth posting.

Update: A couple readers have reported seeing the poster in theaters, so it appears as if it is real.

Check out the full poster after the jump.

Inception movie poster

The film’s logline is “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” The rumored plot claims “Inception is about entering peoples’ minds/dreams. A technology to do so has been developed and is done through an injection. DiCaprio and his team work to enter the minds of other characters in order to retrieve/plant information.”

Inception features Leonardo DiCaprio as Jacob, a CEO-type, Marion Cotillard (La Vie en rose, Public Enemies) as his wife, Ellen Page (Juno) as a young college grad student named Ariadne, who is also DiCaprio’s sidekick, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Arthur, an associate working for DiCaprio. Ken Watanabe will play the film’s villain, a man named Saito, who is blackmailing Leonardo DiCaprio’s character. Tom Hardy (Bronson) plays Eames, a member of DiCaprio’s team. Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Sunshine) plays Fischer and Michael Caine is also involved.

Anyone else excited at how high JGL's billing is? I mean, it's DiCaprio, Villain, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

This reminds me of the Terminator salvation poster - the one with the city making up the face of an endo skeleton.

  • The crucifix shape under the letters E-P intrigues me.

Anyone know if 42 Entertainment are working on the viral campaign? They did a great job with The Dark Knight.
  • Inception - deception. Reception?

What explains Nolan's new obsession with skyscrapers? He even put Bruce Wayne's house in one.

    He must really like skyscrapers.

    This is real? Wow!

Where are those buildings located? Were they built for the movie?

    I'm amazed!

Yeah, I've seen this in real life. It's real. Unless some kid snuck his fanmade poster into the AMC display...
  • Poster leaks are the new trailer leaks.

I love how it shows the names of the entire cast at the top. This is how the posters for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were. I know. Very geeky.

I really dig that too. Partly because it's akin to TDK and Batman Begins, but mostly because this is the most amazing cast that a Nolan film could ever have.

    Dear Art Students:
Why is this poster so disorienting? Is the perspective skewed? Or am I dizzy for other reasons?

    Yours,
    Andrew

I'm no photography expert, so I could be talking nonsense. It's a birdsview perspective and they might have used a bit of fish lense distotion.

That alone would make an impressive picture. But what I think they did was rotate that picture.

So you're not looking at the angle the picture was taken at. It's like looking at a picture with your head upside down.

Just look at the cropped picture at the top of the article. That one rotated and looks much less disorientating.

I think its because of the angle of the title, at least in relation to the other text and the rest of the image.

Yup, its a real poster. There just isn't a URL to access a high resolution version.

Play this game and then reveal the asset. The poster is a embedded in flash.

You only see this poster when you play maze that has already been created.

Nolanfans.com and yourmindisthesceneofthecrime.com are two of the most popular sites if you really want to follow this film called Inception...kind of like whysoserious.com for The Dark Knight. This will keep Inception as one of the top movies of the summer without forgetting about it a month after Iron Man 2 is released in June.
  • Eh, I'm not really a fan of the poster. It looks like a 20something years old graphic student could easily make that one.

I prefer the 1st one (which looks similar to TDK poster)
  • Hey I'm a twentysomething former graphic design student!

    Dem shits is hard.
  • Maybe a 20-something did make it. Still looks good and interesting. The poster, that is. It's certainly different than anything I've seen.
  • movieguzzler
This is not a fan creation. I saw it at the IMAX theater when I went to watch Avatar. It's 100% legit.
