Last night was the one thousandth episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, but evidently interns backstage failed to inform the ever-emo Dracula of the celebration. And not helping to curb his Transylmania-prolonged depression was the fact that Ferguson’s Wavy the Alligator attempted to chomp his hand-puppet thunder as the ep’s defacto host. The upside? Drac was there alongside beanied actor/songwriter Jason Segel to perform “Dracula’s Lament, their hit moody ballad that first appeared in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Watch the concert and more, below.

If you’re wondering, the backing band in the clip above is Los Angeles quintet The Broken West, who are signed to Chapel Hill’s Merge Records. Back in September, we reported that Disney and Segal had officially agreed to make The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, a dream project Segel wrote and will star in. Further details have not been announced, but Segel has said the film will involve Jim Henson’s Muppets facing off with an oil maven. It’s worth mentioned that Ferguson also got in on the puppet-song action: Wavy and his shark pal opened the show with a mall-country anthem that I am not going to bother Googling…complete with video-hoes…

Here is one of the original scenes from Marshall per Segel’s Dracula musical…

“And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the Lord I will slay him!” But what about Pasty Pattinson?

Loved the song. I understand the lyrics are different from what was sung in the movie. Anyone know if this will become a true song played on the radio? I thought it was quite interesting to listen too. Loved the lyrics.

I like the original version much better, but it's still awesome. Can't wait for Segel's Muppet thing.

Pro-tip: Hunter, you use the word "per" incorrectly, and frequently. Not trying to be a dick, just trying to help you out.

Hey hey now, I took this video! I just got my first digital camera like two months ago so I've been filming everything like crazy. Yeah I'm like five years behind the rest of the world.

Love that Segel is continuing with this craziness. I don't love hearing the echo on his "voice" in the background - there must be some effects going on. Minor complaint, this is awesome!

i would pay a rediculous amount of money to see Jason's Dracula Puppet Musical on broadway. Why has no one tried to make it?
  • I couldn't agree more, this would be amazing as a show.

I like the new lyrics, but it just isn't the same without "Die! Die! DIE!"
