Youth in Revolt Movie Trailer #2

Youth In Revolt

Dimension Films has released the second trailer for the big screen adaptation of C. D. Payne’s epistolary novel Youth in Revolt. Michael Cera stars in this “irreverent story about the wild adventures of a teenage boy named Nick Twisp who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and has to turn his life and the lives of all those around him upside down in order to be with her.” Newcomer Portia Doubleday plays Sheeni Saunders, and the film also features Steve Buscemi, Zack Galifianakis, and Ray Liotta.

I had a chance to see this film at the Toronto Film Festival, and its quite good. The new trailer is a bit over the top, filled with horrible voice over and a bunch of songs that don’t quite fit. Watch the new trailer now after the jump, and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Youth In Revolt is scheduled to hit theaters on on January 8th 2010, with sneak previews on January 2nd 2010.

  • I'm getting tired seeing Michael Cera always playing himself as an awkward, effeminate, and dopey teenager that resembles Pee-Wee Herman.
  • Rasmus
I'm getting really really tired of reading this exact comment on every internet page about anything Micheal Cera.
  • Octoberist
wait..didn't Chevy Chase and Bill Murray do the samething, during their heyday?
  • Mike
I know you are but what am I.
  • Poland626
Wow, I've seen this already too but they give away a lot in this trailer. IF you wanna see this movie, don't rewatch it.

Also, the cast is all wrong in the trailer. Zack was in it for less time than Ray liotta yet Ray doesn't get mentioned?

I guess with the Hangover they wanna promote a more well known face.
  • Tservo
also i think ray liotta is more likely to turn people away than make them want to see a movie.
  • dukeoffearl
Yeah, the Michael Cera formula is getting old fast.......
  • beccaboob
I don't think cera is playing the same character, unless he's played someone with a split personality before... am I missing something?
  • dukeoffearl
    Did you not see Superbad??
  • beccaboob
Uh yeah I saw Superbad. I guess I missed the part where he had hallucinations about being a more deliquent version of himself. Guess they're in the special features.
  • dukeoffearl
    Oh, you got jokes..

    :-|

Still don't see your point. Why? Because you don't have one.
  • Say what you will, but I really like Michael Cera. He makes me laugh and he doesn't seem like a jerk. Perfect.
  • How come nobody ever complains about Woody Allen playing the same character in every movie?
  • Tiwa
Seems like "irreverent" is the new "riveting"

Haters can hate on Michael Cera all they want, but I look at it this way:

You know in the Chapelle Show episode where Dave is asked if he thinks Michael Jackson is guilty of whatever and he responds that he can't hate MJ because he did Thriller (Thriller!).

Well, I can't hate on Michael Cera 'cause he was in Arrested Development (Arrested Development!). Not that I'm comparing Cera to Jackson (It's AD, yo!).
