The full length trailer for Family Guy’s Empire Strikes Back parody Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side premieres today on the iTunes store, Apple and YouTube. The trailer is “a nearly exact remake” of the original trailer from the 1980 classic The Empire Strikes Back. Watch it now embedded after the jump.

Here is the official synopsis:

The saga continues as Luke (Chris), Leia (Lois), Han Solo (Peter) and Chewbacca (Brian) have evaded the dreaded Imperial Starfleet led by the cunning, conniving and curiously short evil lord Darth Vader (Stewie), setting up a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. With the rebellion in trouble, young Skywalker must take the advice of his late, and rather lascivious, mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert) and learn the ways of the “farce” under Jedi Master Yoda (Carl) to save the galaxy once and for all.

The movie will be released on iTunes, DVD and Blu-ray on December 22nd 2009.

  • Alexander
I can see the Chicken as Boba Fett having a painfully long fight sequence in the parody of ROTJ.
  • that fight sequence will be awesome, and it better end in that pit
  • Garber
    Wow. That looked terrible.
  • Alex
I lol'd at the AT-AT hurting its leg...

Or maybe some of us actually like the jokes in comedy to be, you know, funny. Or have some wit. Whatever, enjoy a nice glass of Brawndo with this.
  • Idiocracy
    brawndo, Lawlz.
  • ajg1993
Yeah, it's not like comedy is subjective or anything. The fact that you don't find Family Guy funny obviously means that no one else could possibly find it funny. There's no way in hell that people could have differing opinions on what constitutes good comedy.

Wait, hold on... my sources are telling me that all of that is complete bullshit. They have also informed me that you're a tool. Huh, go figure.
  • megazoid
wouldn't a tool be the majority?

i think you used the wrong insult there buddy.
  • ajg1993
Tool- an offensive comment, mainly aimed towards the male of the species, when one is being particularly nasty, stupid, or facetious.

Not that it really has a lot to do with my post anyway; nice try though, pal.

The "Get ready to suck some Dak!" line made me chuckle. While I think Family Guy has gone increasingly downhill, Blue Harvest was pretty enjoyable so I'll probably check this out.
  • Fffff, Arrgghhhh. Fffff, Arrrghhh.
  • Peter R
I enjoy Robot Chicken's Star Wars stuff a little more. Family Guy has gone a bit downhill but it still sorta funny. South Park is def. a superior show though.
  • quintushalls
"Hey Cartman, you would love Family Guy! You're just like Family Guy. You're the best...just like Family Guy."
  • looks hilarious i have always loved family guy, the thing i don't get are the kids who shit on family guy but praise southpark.
  • Mase
No no you're wrong. Kids like Family Guy, it's the adults who like South Park. Go to a high school, no one quotes South Park as much as Family Guy.
  • Scott
A few years ago I would have been all over this... but holy crap has Family Guy become terrible. This looks utterly painful. I mean, what was funny? The walker behaving like a person? That's funny? Is it funny because it's wacky characters lampooning Star Wars, because the Muppet Babies already did that. I bet the people who are eating this up are delighted when people jingle keys in their faces too.
  • xavier
A few chuckles here and there, but man are their jokes getting old and predictable. The only part I'm looking forward to in this special is the inimitable H. Jon Benjamin as Yoda.
  • dagreenman18
Fuck yes, Coach McGuirk is Yoda!!
  • starscream9289
American Dad is the superior show.
  • greggorybasore
Thank you starscream... I'm glad someone else finally said it.
  • SLatters
I'll occasionally catch the odd episode of Family Guy, and I usually enjoy it, but when I saw the first Star Wars spoof they made, the jokes felt very laboured and it looked as if they basically just lazily rotoscoped overtop a lot of the actual footage from Star Wars (space scenes etc.).
  • cambion
Jesus Christ. Was this show always this stupid and I just wasn't paying attention back in '02? Or has it just gone way down hill? Because that was really terrible and painful to watch.

Thank god Futurama is on its way back.
  • rockinrors
I'm so damn over family guy, and really didn't like Blue Harvest, but this made me chol a bit (chuckle out loud).
It doens't look as funny as Robot Chicken Star Wars....
  • Hillybilly Hank
Haha funny that you use a shortened version of a word to save time writing it then writing it anyways, kinda pointless to me, but this debate is so useless! Who cares if you like Family Guy, Simpsons or South Park the most? Thats the beuty of different shows, you can choose wich to watch! I for one love them all three!
  • Dante Lass
    /\ That!
  • Just Me
I like Family Guy but having seen this movie I think it's really pretty lame

    They've done much better stuff
  • Leon
I just finished watching this, it is sort of a hit or miss with it's jokes, some of it is funny but the rest is boring.
  • Ritsuka
I watched it earlier today. I agree that most of the jokes were hit-or-miss. I like family guy, but for me personally the episodes are increasingly...well, not as funny. It seems like now they depend mostly on pop culture references for their jokes and less on character-driven humor. I know they've always included the random cutaway gags that featured some parody of popular culture, but when you feature it too much it just becomes boring and predictable. For example, this ep's Allstate parody? Did anyone even find that funny? I think they're running out of jokes and now anything has become joke fodder. I really liked the Blue Harvest episode and thought it was much, much better than this sequel, because, again, it focused more on the characters and their quirks and why it was appropriate that they were featured as the Star Wars counterpart they were. This one had a few pretty awesome one-liners, but for me, that was pretty much it.

I'm not hatin' on the show or whatever, I'm actually a pretty big fan, but...I'm worried the show has jumped the shark (jumped the Wampa?).
  • karlcos
Look Its either funny or not funny and it has to be said that of late Family guy has not been funny IMHO but it did set high standards early doors so it tough to keep it up........ least thats what I tell the wife.

Hope this is better as Blue Harvest had its moments but did feel a little laboured
