Columbia Tristar Home Video produced this two minute video with Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman hyping the “new” DVD movie format as “the future” of home movie entertainment.  The video was distributed in 1999 (yes, over ten years ago) to help promote the emerging new media, and of course, the release of Ghostbusters on the format. Watch the video after the jump.

Kinda cool. Still wish the new Blue Ray transfer of Ghostbusters had been better...
  • im sure they will milk it atleast 2 more times on BR, once for a anniversary and once when the new ghost busters film comes out.

I bought my first DVD player in 1998 ($500!) and I remember going to Blockbuster when they had all of ONE shelf dedicated to DVD's. Oh, the good 'ol days.
  • Retro videos rock. I love the old SEGA and NINTENDO game ads from the early-mid 90s featuring 'ground-breaking 3D graphics' while showing plain scrolling platform games. They really were the best.

It's like he could see the future...
Although I think he was even more forward thinking while on the set of Ghostbusters when he "Blu" Ray...
