Uwe Boll’s Far Cry Movie Trailer

far cry

Director Uwe Boll, who is famous for ruining the big screen adaptations of popular video games like Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, Dungeon Siege and Postal, is back again with yet-another- video game adaptation - Far Cry.

Based on the best-selling videogame franchise that sold over 3 million copies, Director Uwe Boll (In the Name of the King, Bloodrayne) unleashes his latest non-stop action thriller Far Cry on DVD November 24 from Vivendi Entertainment. Til Schwiger (Inglourious Basterds), Udo Kier (Grindhouse), and Emmanuelle Vaugier (Saw IV) star in the action-packed story of a reporter who investigates the deaths of mercenaries on an island off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. Jack Carver (Schweiger), a retired special forces officer, escorts star journalist, Valerie (Vaugier), on the trail of a story on a mysterious island off the Pacific Northwest. Upon docking, they are attacked and pursued by a squad of mercenaries employed by scientist, Dr. Krieger (Udo Kier). In their attempt to escape, they uncover Dr. Krieger’s secret lab and unleash the genetically engineered beasts that he’s created.

Vivendi Entertainment is releasing the film direct-to-dvd on November 24th, and have released a promotional trailer on IGN. It looks as bad as you may be expecting.  DreadCentral wrote in their review of the film, “Far Cry is what you get when Uwe Boll stops trying.”Watch the trailer for yourself embedded after the jump. He has three movies coming out?!?!?! How could he possibly still be working by now?

Where does the budget come from?? Mind-bottling

I watched an interview with him a few months ago. He gets all his funding from private investors. He makes a movie for a few million and makes it all back on DVD sales easily, making them all very happy. I wonder how much he makes from unknowing consumers who get excited when their favorite game becomes a movie. Sadly, I assume a heavy portion of his profits are made from people like us who watch his movies just to see how bad they are, they've almost reached culture icon status. Until they stop making money on these cheap movies he'll continue to get funding. That's why I've developed a rule for myself. I very very rarely watch pirated movies (typically only movies that are hard to find by other means) but I refuse to ever watch his movies in any other way. He isn't even going to see 1/10 of a cent from my Netflix instant queue watching.

What? I remember hearing about this movie coming out TWO YEARS ago, mainly because Craig & Tom of ScrewAttack.com were in it. I thought it came out to no fanfare, but alas, they're releasing it.
  • What? Craig & Tom were in FarCry?

Direct to DVD? Wow, it must be total shit if SyFy won't touch it.

Nothing surprising here. Take an Okay game and make a shitty movie. Good job Uwe. You continue to turn out less than mediocre slop.

trailer? i saw this movie on bluray months ago.

my son loves the games and i love Boll movies, it was a perfect match

    ;)

Looks like a crappy JVCD movie from the 80s.
  • some rand
this came out last year what are you on about
  • Man, when i first heard about this movie i was hoping it would be directed by someone decent, and that Stephen Dorff would play Jack Carver AKA the bad guy from the first Blade, he looks a lot like him.

And there goes Hugo Stiglitz's career
  • Til Schweiger (Hugo Stiglitz) has been a huge star in Germany for a looong time now. He does live in L.A. and has some roles in US movies here and there, so he hasn't even been remotely "big" in the states yet. And no matter how terrible this movie is, it won't affect his career in Germany at all.

I must admit, tho, that my first thought was "Omg, Til...whyyyy???", too. ;)

it was pure crap this movie. lucky i only rented it.

That movie was released almost one year ago here in germany, i saw it and it has not very much in common with the game, but i could enjoy it somehow, it has silly jokes and stupid one-liners and it moves on like a 80s actioner. Not his worst movie.

Trailer? this movie is out. ive seen it. it's spectacularly fucking awful, but more fun than Postal.

    Awesome lol

the ultimate role model for aspiring filmmakers...

what a joke, theres so many good directors and screenwriters that are being ignored and lost... instead we get to see this clown and his films being released on a bimonthly basis.

id love to get in contact with the people who finance his films! i agree with the statement above by mbellerbrock about dvd sales, there must be a few countries around the world that go nuts and buy all this crap (im guessing ones that are still in love with the 80's... where jcvd could be king)

in defence of mr boll (and his directing) he has been given some piss poor scripts to work with... though when your handed a script like that of farcry or bloodrayne any sane person should be able to see how bad it is! lol just look at the dialog in the trailer above! he should have done us all a favor and burnt the script and then eaten the ashes...

and if he thought the script had potential then he should probably be burning himself with it.

he might prove me wrong one of these days!

sorry about that unnecessarily long rant. Boll brings out the worst in me =(
  • Andrew
Wasnt this made like 2002? Ive seen tons of internet clips of it...and yes it is terrible. Is that even surprising anymore? I mean seriously what videogame company gives this jack-off the rights to make a movie....more so who is supplying him with this. IS there anyone on this earth who enjoys his movies? And if you do please go out to your local video store and pick up something....anything else to find out how wrong you are.
  • Toufas
the movie has been out for ages (at least in europe) and frankly it was not that bad. Other movies with bigger names attached to them sucked more (well tom and craig from screwattack and bourdain are big names for some people including me)
It was not great but it did not reek
  • emeryisthebestband
looks like a crappy version of the marine...which was crap. you do the math
  • How is this only coming out now. It's been out in Australia for over 8 months It's another rubbish Uwe Boll film. Don't bother with it.

Cool post i must say. Very great idea. I am wondering if I can share your article in the bookmarks of society.

what happened to the tropical setting?

Ok 2 things. First, thanks Uwe Boll for irreversibly tainting one of my favorite PC games. Second...how the hell did he persuade Ubi for the movie rights? Ubisoft is one of...well probably the last decent PC gaming company and they gave this to him...MAJOR doubts about that company now.
  • Brandon
where's that petition to stop him from making any more movies? My entire church wants to sign it
