Walt Disney Pictures has released the trailer for The Last Song, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ forthcoming novel, starring Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston.

THE LAST SONG is set in a small Southern beach town where an estranged father (GREG KINNEAR) gets a chance to spend the summer with his reluctant teenaged daughter (MILEY CYRUS), who’d rather be home in New York. He tries to reconnect with her through the only thing they have in common—music—in a story of family, friendship, secrets and salvation, along with first loves and second chances.

The only reason I’m posting this trailer is that almost every girl I know seems to love (not just like, but love) the past adaptations of Sparks’ novels, like A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. The notes in this story ring too loud and obvious for me, as I’m sure it will for you. I guess every Sparks adaptation can’t be a home run, or else we’d never have Nights in Rodanthe. The Last Song hits theaters on April 2nd 2010.

    Even in the trailer I'm not buying Miley Cyrus' attempt at angst... Greg Kinnear will make this palatable for parents that have to endure this yawn-fest with their Tweens.

    I really enjoy Greg Kinnear in roles like this, he's pretty convincing and sincere. Still on the fence but he might make this one pretty enjoyable. Still need more convincing on seeing Miley in a serious role though.

    Miley Cyrus?? You have to be kidding me!! I like her, but she is not experienced enough yet for such a serious role! There is so much that happens in this book that calls for a very serious, very experienced actress. All the other characters are perfect, and again she will be an awesome actress, but this role is just to deep for her at her experience level. I'm not happy with the timing. She would be great... later, after acting in a few more roles.

    The movie looks really cute! Can't wait to watch it with my girls! :) I wish there were not so many pessimistic comments on here. I think Miley will do a great job! I wish we didn't have to wait until April, to see it! What a great way for my daughters to spend some special bonding time together! After all, isn't that what the movie is about.....living in the moment! :)

    People Seriously need to quit hating on Miley Cyrus. I think she is really good at everything she does.Ya'll just hating cause ya'll jealous, like seriously ya'll can't do it any better..She is on tv ya'll not so quit freaking hating on the girl...Me and my daughter loved her first movie and this one looks like another one we will really love also..SO can't wait to see it..

    This movie looks so awesome.but i dont think miley cyrus should be in it,shes gonna ruin the entire film! i mean i dont ENTIRELY hate her and all,but why in the earth out of all actresses did they pick her??? They should have gone with a diffrent girl like selena gomez or kristen stewart

    Just finished reading the book. I truly hope the movie is stays true to form as the book!!!! Looks like the movie will be good!! Nicholas Sparks wrote it with Miley in mind. Everybody needs to stop hating!!!

    I can't wait until this comes out. Miley Cyrus is such a good actress and i think she'll do great. I love the way she's so commited in the trailer. She GREAT, and that's come from a girl whos been through a lot. LOVE HER
